Hi
I want ot upgrade one of my AUX option on Beosond to Chromcast Audio.
If i buy : https://www.cnet.com/products/chromecast-audio/
is it only plug&play or do i need pay for deezer and others ?
Depending on the Beosound you own, you will need a mini-jack to AUX cable (note that most B&O use DIN connectors). Steve at Sounds Heavenly (or your dealer) has these.
As far as content, there are "free" services (TuneIn, Podcast Republic) and paid services (Spotify, Deezer).
See: https://www.google.com/chromecast/audio/apps/

Or else you can upload up to 50,000 of your own tracks to Google Play music for free and control playback from either phone, tablet or laptop. Note that your device is only used for browsing/control etc and plays no part in the casting of music and so does not waste battery.
Ban boring signatures!
BeoNut since '75
elephant:My wife was leaving (the house) when I first switched on (which unfortunately by default or last use was Spotify at full volume) and she came running back shouting "you can hear that up the street!!" ... I should have played this from Geoff's list
I guess controlling the volume of the BL20's from an app/the Phone won't be convenient in the long run.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Hardly a serious imposition if you've used an app to select music to play in the first place, especially given the number of people here who seem happy to flatten their phone battery using Airplay to control their music!

Beyond ergonomics, modifying the sound level of a digital signal is not the best solution, and especially below a 24 bit processing.
The source (original signal) is modified/degraded for the DAC to supply the desired sound level to the amplifier.
That's where/why the BL5s are different, to adjust the sound level during amplification, i.e. after the digital to analog conversion.
If I remember well, Geoff Martin dropped a word about this here...
EDIT : Found it

Elephant, this thread will be interesting for you!
That is exactly the reason for the built-in ir (for volume control) in the BL5's.
That is not the case with the BL20'es etc.
If you want to run these 'digital', you should use a (PC/Mac) software that processes the sound at 24 or more bits.
Otherweise it would be better to use an Essence (and the PL connection) and the volume control of the Beomusic app.....
....if you want the convenience of using the same 'handheld device' for selecting music and volume controlling.
@CB
Yes, that is an interesting thread

Hmmm... I wonder how it works with WISA?
And also with Google Cast (embeded) or Chromecast...
Ah well, that is what we all have missed - a PC/Mac with a built-in WiSA module ;-)

Or a (new) Beosound/Beomaster...
The BeoSound Moment has WiSA built-in - so already there.
