Hi, I have a question which I hope someone can answer! We have a Beosound 9000 (purchased in 2000). It's linked to an Avant and Beosound 1 speakers and the subwoofer then by magic eye to wall speakers in another room.

For some bizarre reason, the 9000 will change CDs, increase/decrease volume and when switched off, will randomly switch itself on - very loud last night when we'd all gone to bed!

Any ideas?!!!

Thanks in advance

Michelle

I would start by disconnecting the masterlinkcable.

First take off the power ( I assume it's a mk2 with the red power button at the side.

So, connect the BS9000 with only the powercord and switch on.

Then wait for any strange behaviour.

Disconnecting from the ML (masterlinkcable) means that won't respond to any timer programs in the avant.

Starting up with only the powercord means that it will not respond to any infrared instructions (default option 0 with powerlink not connected).

So, the BS9000 can't respond to any infrared in the area (neighbour playing a prank on you eg.)

If the BS9000 still acts weird, then it had to be searched inside the BS9000.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. I have followed your instruction  - I shall let you know if it works.

May I ask - if it is the masterlink, do I need to have this replaced?

Thank you again :)

I once experienced similar behaviour and found my beo4 remote had slipped down the side of a sofa cushion. Any movement on the sofa caused interesting effects!
