Hi - I am thinking of getting an ATV and using my old one for music with a DAC connected.

Despite searching I can't find if it has all the apps that I want - these are -

BBC iPlayer, Netflix, NOW TV - I know those are included

ITV, CH4 and Amazon Lovefilm?

Does anyone in the UK have it and have access to all of the above?

Off the top of my head iTV and C4 are not apps on the ATV4 but stand alone apps on iPhone/iPad. C4 happily will airplay in the app to ATV4.

ITV Hub for some reason stopped airplaying on mine at the moment.

BBC IPlayer & Netflix apps on ATV4 are great.

In addition I have Plex and Emby media apps on ATV4 as I have them running as media server on PC with recordings of programs/movies. Both these apps are good on ATV4.

I use ATV4 here in Bucharest with a 'VPN-like' service that makes it think it's in UK!

BBC iPlayer works very well, but in the app store there is no sign of any offerings from ITV, Channel 4, 4OD etc.  However, the app that I make most extensive use of is 'TVPlayer' - this seems to have most of the typical UK free-to-air channels on it to a reasonable quality, although the stream quality dropped during last weekend's rugby for some reason!

The lack of Amazon Lovefilm is a pain, but I had a trial of Amazon Prime over Xmas and watched 'The Grand Tour' by airplaying from my phone, which works very well.

Another good ATV4 app is DR.TV - Danish TV but they have lots of UK films/series.

I highly recommend the ATV4; it runs very smoothly and I am proud to sit the new Apple remote alongside my Beo4.  I purchased it in preparation for a new B&O TV, but after the BV14/Horizon debacle I am waiting for something better (non-Android) and making do with my BV6-26 and a pair of binoculars.

I am happy to search for other ATV4 apps if you want me to check anything else.

Forgot to add: Two other apps I also use extensively are VLC media player and QMedia to play stuff from my QNAP NAS running Twonky.  These also work very well.

Hi - thanks very much - it is quite appealing and I think I will take the plunge - BBC iPlayer is the main one but great to be able to get Danish and maybe French TV too

There's really two questions here:

1. Whether the ATV4 has suitable apps for French TV?

I have had a quick look and found myCANAL - there may be others so if you have a particular app ion mind let me know.  I tried to get myCANAL to run but in order to get live TV it asks me to visit https://appletv.mycanal.fr/ and then enter a code.  This appears to need a login, which I don't have.

2. Whether they work outside France?

Without a login I cannot test the above.  However, the 'VPN-like' service that I use has a list of channels that it will 'redirect' to the appropriate country.  See here: https://www.unblock-us.com/supported-services  This includes several French TV stations, hence I am pretty sure that you can get French TV outside France, but if there is not a suitable (ATV4) app then worst case you would have to airplay it from either an app or the browser on your phone.  The UnBlockUs service cost me $4.99 per month and I have used it successfully over the past few years in Denmark, Germany and now Romania - mainly for UK TV using BBC iPlayer for example.

BBC iPlayer Radio is also worth getting for radio catch-up...

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
