There have been quite a few complaints in the press about poor sound and mumbling in a new BBC Drama Taboo - Rillington Place was criticised as well, but I bought this on iTunes and had no problem with the sound on a BV8.
Did anyone watch the BBC Drama Taboo on a Beovision and couldn't hear the dialogue or is it just that the new thin mass market TVs have poor sound without a soundbar? I know that I struggle to hear properly when I watched a friends Panasonic and a Samsung was very poor.
Same disqussion going on in Denmark for series of the DR.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
In Taboo, the dialogue does seem to be mixed quite low compared with the background noise and music - definitely needs a bit of volume (+8 or 10 over my normal listening levels) to hear it clearly with my setup (Beovision 7-32 mk3, Beolab 7.2 centre and Beolab 6000 fronts). I don't think it's any reflection on the speakers/digital audio module, rather Tom Hardy mumbling away in his gravelly accent coupled with a more cinematic sound mix!
I have watched 7 episodes on my Beovision 11 and I didn't pick up any problems. I actually thought Tom Hardy spoke quite well. Love this series!

Maybe a BV11 handles dialogue different than a BV7?
Heard a discussion about this on BBC radio.
It's the latest thinking by producers and directors.... apparently we don't hear everything clearly in real life so the same thinking is now being applied to TV dramas. Deliberate mumbling and quiet speech.
Nothing to do with the (superior) sound output of a Beovision.

Fortunately last night BBC Newsnight came to to the rescue, its at the end of the programme about 38:45!

It is possible? it is in the bedroom so not a big lounge which possibly helps the sound.
Love the series taboo, have to say I've had no issues with hearing the dialogue, neither has my partner. Not sure if it's more the problem of the person listening rather than the sound quality from production or device really
Not had a problem with Taboo, or the latest moan feste of SS-GB. I'm watching on a BV11 with BL18 fronts, BL4000 rears and sound at 44 :-)
