hello, I have had my BV 5 for 14 years or so and had previously connected an Apple TV via scaler and hdmi component switch. Trying a repeat about 8 years later and I was wondering if anyone has experience with this. I assume the BV 5 can receive 1080i 50 ... thanks in advance

Thank you for your reply. It works using 1080i 60 on the scaler, I have been able to hookup Apple TV 4 with a converter. All works!

Hallo Herr Kallas,

Stephan Friedberger

do you know if it is possible to connect an Apple TV 4 Generation HDMI 1.4 through a conversion box HDMI 1.4 Input to Component Video and Coaxial Audio Output to a Beovision 5 type 8488.  Do you know any brand of conversion box to recommend.

Interesting question. I have the same doubt.
Do you know if it is possible to connect an Apple TV 1080p 4 Generation (HDMI 1.4)  through a conversion box I think it also would be HDMI 1.4 Input (Entrada) to Component Video and Coaxial Audio Output (Salida) to a Beovision 5 type 8488 with Video Component (Above Input) and Audio Coaxial (Below Input by V.Aux). I THINK it would be OK.

Someone knows if it is possible, and knows a brand about de conversion box and where you can get it.?

Thanks.

Very interesting your information could you send me a photo, everything would be useful to me, I appreciate your response. Many say that it is not possible to do so. Your information perhaps can help to do this. THANKS!!

I send you an answer: "I am very sorry but I am not aware of any way reliably use streaming devices such as Amazon Firestick, Sky Q, Chromecast, Apple TV, etc. with older TVs that don't have HDMI sockets fitted. Adapters or converters don't usually work well, as the protection software in the streaming device can turn off the signal unless a TV with an HDMI socket is detected.I am sorry but we no longer support any video cables for TVs without HDMI sockets due to their age and obsolescence."

Without pictures see below written connections

Apple TV latest release

HDMI out to ViewHD Audio Extractor HDCP 2

from there I have a optical out to the TV

HDMI from the ViewHD to HDMI spitter ViewHD 1x2MN3D

from there HDMI to scaler Decimator MD HX converting 1080p59/1080i60

from the Decimator HDMI to ViewHD Switch Converter VHD H2YVs to component to TV

I know it’s a lot but it works well. It took me a while to figure this out.

Your information Martin is very interesting. 👍🏼

You can send us an email so we can attach the photo.
In my country Argentina it is difficult to locate that converter box. I can get it with a family member or friend from the United States.

I have the doubt because Apple TV 1080p 4 Generation is HDMI 1.4 and this converter box you told me is HDMI 1.3 (A friend of mine watch it in eBay)

I'd really appreciate your information, photo, and help.
