Sorry some of the text is corupted and I cannot delete it no idea why it's appeared and there ?
A few words to say thanks to all at the Beoworld and some helpful information found in the forum.
One of my friends has a master control panel 5500 that I have been repairing for him. The cause of all the problems was the circuit boards badly corroded by leaking batteries.
It amazes me the extent of the damage I often see with various equipment caused by leaking batteries. This type of damage is often terminal in nature and for old equipment no readily available replacement parts. I have in the last few years switch myself to using the lithium type batteries although much more expensive I have never had a leakage issue with them.
If you do nothing else today go round all your prised electrical goods and remove batteries for items in storage and use the best quality you can afford. Always replace flat batteries as its always these that corode and leak.
I found on the forum a few previous reports of this problem with the 5500 and some very useful service information and schematic. I would like to say thanks for those that provide this kind of help and assistance with the repair much-loved vintage equipment.
I have put together a couple of Youtube movies that people may find useful as a reference should they need to do similar repairs.
Best Regards Chris
