Where can I find replacement woofer for Beovox 3000 (non-active model)? Also, can this be installed by me, or is professional assistance needed?
Hi and welcome to Beoworld!
Usually Beovox woofers are specially designed by B&O and ordered from different suppliers. It will be difficult to get new woofers on the free market which fit the original 100%. Howewer you can order spare woofers at a dealer even for older models (We are quite happy with 4 new CX100 woofers we bought for a reasonable price. Another possibility would be to repair the woofer, depending on the problem it has. You will find a lot of posts in our forum concerning repair, also on the archived forum.
To change a woofer in a beovox 3000 can be easily done by everybody: You just need a torx T20 driver to loosen the srews and can then swap the driver. No soldering needed because B&O used simple car-type connectors. The four Beovox 3000 i use in my office have drivers with part number 8480210 / 59277NE written on the back but i see no supplier name. By the way the drivers of the beolab 3000 are the same as for the Beovox 3000.
If you don't find a new driver just try to get a replacement speaker, some times you will find cheap examples with decent drivers but ugly fronts. Perhaps user Dillen or Leslie have a spare they don't need any more. For a "wanted" ad you have to upgrade to a silver membership.
At my opinion the Beovox / Beolab series 3000 / 4500 / 5000 are design milestones in the work of B&O and share almost the same concept as the new wall speaker system they relased this year.
Best regards
David
There are no less than three (very) different versions of passive Beovox 3000.You need to be more specific and - as mentioned above - upgrade membership level to place wanted ads.
Replacing is a matter of using a screwdriver and either pulling a pair of plugs or doing a bit of soldering.
