Dear members,

I've read somewhere here that in order to listen to DTS DVDs on my Avant type 8430 I need to upgrade two chips: AC3 to 2.3 and the software of the television. Don't know which one it exactly was. I however upgraded TV software to I think it was 8.9 (a DVD software version) and AC3 to 2.3. However, I still don't seem to be able to listen to DTS DVDs on my DVD2 that is connected to the Avant. What can the reason be?

Dolby Digital and Pro Logic works by the way. Just DTS doesn't.

Greetings,

Kai

Upgrade: DTS works. I tried it with a DVD where I can manually select DTS in the settings. However, I have a DVD where there is no such option and automatically I only get Pro Logic? Probably I will need to play with things a little more. But I can confirm now that, in principle, it works to upgrade a CTR Avant that way. Thanks for the help in this forum!

My 32 RF mk2 8440 got an upgrade to SW 2.3 and 10.3 to handle dts.

I can set sound manually when watching the movie in the language menu by hitting the red Beo4 button. Either by up and down arrows or digits. The Phillips DVD menu shows the language and coding, and dts finally shows up for two seconds on the Avant display when selected.

That is exactly what I did and what happened on the second test DVD. Unfortunately, it didn't work that way with the first one... Thanks! Kai
