It's only a turntable, not the Space shuttle. Wait a month.

bet it is a turntable for a TV or speaker rather than vinyl - but if it is a vinyl turntable then that would be awesome.

My ideal turntable concept would be one that is internet-connected and offers a suggestion of the album after sampling the music, provides 2-way feedback on an app with track listing, and the ability to move the stylus to a particular track. The BeoSound 5 CD ripping device is an inspiration here. The BeoSound 5 CD ripping device is the ultimate CD player in that it automatically pulls the cover artwork and track listings.

The next generation vinyl players should have no rotating parts and read the record optically.

This is interesting that Bang & Olufsen may introduce a turntable.   I have a Rega turntable that to me has a warm and enjoyable sound.  I also listen to digital music through Apple Music and Amazon.  I usually buy new LPs from Amazon who include an MP3 download of the LP purchased.  I only listen to LPs when I relax with a glass of wine in the evening.  Why would anyone want a digital turntable?

B&O is actually late to the turntable revival.  Most audio companies are selling relabeled turntables that are manufactured by Project or Rega and other established companies.  Other than maybe the design. why buy a B&O turntable?  How much would anyone be willing to pay?  There are some really expensive turntables often above £10000.  My Rega turntable with a moving coil cartridge and a tonearm upgrade  was about £2000.  It has been trouble free and if service is needed, there are many dealers.

Maybe the new turntable will be an inexpensive Beoplay turntable.

When I purchased my Rega turntable, it was demoed at a B&O dealer.

Agree - and that feeling would not go away just because there is a B&O label on it.

That said, I have a BG4500 ---- and I hardly ever use it.

I had it from 'the start' - maybe it is time to consider selling it.

I need to do some adjustment and maintenance on my BG3000, but every now and then I dig out albums and play some for a day or two, which reminds me of why I stopped relying on LPs for my music. Then back to streaming I go.

If you were going to introduce a turntable today for the "masses" it should have an ADC and BlueTooth and Wifi streaming in addition to a built in RIAA preamp.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

First I've heard about a new turntable... most of us dealers sell third party decks. We stock Pro-Ject turntables. I'm attending the B&O conference in Denmark at the beginning of May and will find out, but think it highly unlikely... still, been wrong before!

Was the rumor just about today's B&O Facebook post mentioning the ability to integrate the old datalink turntables with NL? Not actually a new B&O turntable being announced?

For those not having Facebook:

Bang & Olufsen Multiroom Setup

POSTED ON APRIL 17, 2017

Bang & Olufsen need no introduction, they probably make the best looking premium speakers in the world. I’ve dreamed of working with a company like B&O for over a decade so when they got in touch with me to help them promote their multiform setup, I jumped at the chance.

A B&O engineer came to my place and put together an awesome music setup, but it weren’t any old music setup. The whole purpose of this setup was to show how a vintage record player from the 80s can be wirelessly connected up to the latest B&O tech.

The record player was a BeoSystem 6500 which was originally made from 1989. Usually you’d hook up a pair of speakers directly to the record player to hear your music, but with wireless speakers becoming the norm today how would you go about listening to your record player in another room?

B&O have come up with a system where the record player can connect to your WiFi through a converter, which is hidden behind the cabinet in the picture above.

Speakers like the BeoSound 2 and BeoPlay M5 are designed to be wireless – streaming music through services like Spotify or directly from your phone. However with B&O’s setup you can place your speakers anywhere in the house but still listen to your record player.

B&O don’t stop there though. With the BeoMusic app it goes a step further, this is where the magic happens – you can start/stop and even change tracks on your record player completely wirelessly. So no need to go to your record player to get it started, you can play your records from anywhere as long as you have the app.

You can also use the app to choose which speakers you want the music to come through. So if your record player is in the living room but you want the music to only come to the kitchen, you can do that. If you want it to play through all the speakers throughout the house, you can do that too.

As expected the finish and sound quality of every B&O product is superb. The materials used feel incredibly expensive but also very long lasting. The sound quality is impeccable and every speaker blows you away on how “big” the sound feels.

I was especially impressed with the BeoSound 2. That top metal ring you see is a volume dial which is incredibly satisfying to use. The top disc with the LED light is actually a touchpad but what makes it incredibly clever is the proximity sensor located in the speaker. You can pause and change tracks with the touchpad and the proximity sensor will detect from which direction so no need to swipe in a specific direction – absolutely genius!

There are some interesting errors in that FaceAche post. Firstly, the Beosystem 6500 is a system, not a record player and you wouldn't plug speakers into the record player, you'd plug them into the amplifier.

Most amazingly, though, this new thing allows you to "change tracks on your record player". I'd be really keen to know how they've added this functionality to a Beogram that didn't have this option in the first place!

Actually this is not that new.

It has been possible using the NL/ML Converter for quite a while.

Note, you will need a BeoGram turntable, that is connected via datalink to an ML-AudioMaster in the setup for this to work.

Everybody is talking vinyl - maybe that is the reason for the postings on Facebook and elsewhere.
