Hi everyone, i need a little help, i had a Beovision 7 which broke and has been replaced by a Samsung smart TV (not my call). The Beovision was the center of the whole system and was connected to a Beosound 3000 by the masterlink and two pairs of speakers by two 8-pins powerlink cables. You can see the setup in the image:
All the cables are inside the walls and pop out just behind the TV. The Beosound is on another wall so the speakers can't be plugged directly in it.I'm wondering...is there any way to connect the AUX of the new TV to the whole system WITHOUT rewiring everything and in a way that both my TV and my Beosound work with my 4 speakers? With a bit of reserch i found the BeoLink active and the BeoMaster that seems like they could do the trick, but i'm not sure, and before purchasing something useless i'm here for a better and wiser advice. Thanks.
Hi Verna,
Welcome to the forum!
The simplest option is to get the Powerlink cables to plug into the Beosound, ie. either move the Beosound to where the TV is located, or extend the Powerlink cables to the Beosound position. You can do this using Powerlink cables (http://soundsheavenly.com/powerlink-8-pin-din-connection/20-powerlink-mk-3-compatible-8-pin-din-cable-with-4-cores-wired-low-profile-cable.html) plus barrel adapters (http://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/148-powerlink-compatible-barrel-adapter-for-extending-cables.html) for each cable.
The headphone socket of the new TV can then connect to the Aux socket of the Beosound to share the speakers with this cable: http://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/67--trs-5pd-.html
This way, you don't need to buy any extra hardware.
Kind regards, Steve.

Hi Steve, thanks for the answer, but as i said all the cables are in the wall and the beosound cannot be moved , that's why i'm looking for an hardware solution, which would be both easier and cheaper than rewiring the whole room.
I think you need a Beolink Active kit with a ML transceiver connected to it.
You will need some powerlink cable adaptors from Steve at Sounds Heavenly,as the Active kit only has one powerlink output socket.
You'd control the Beosound functions via the transceiver.
I suggest sending the tv audio from the digital audio out put of the tv via a Bluetooth transmitter.
You can then use a Bluetooth receiver to connect the audio to the aux port of the Beosound. avoiding running new cables
The transmitter kit I used also had a 3.5mm jack input so you could connect ;phone or tablet too when required-neato?
I've done this with a Beosound 9000 system and LG tv,it worked well.
The sound from both pairs of speakers will be stereo of course. You may have had a four channel decoder in the B&O tv?
n.b.I understand that some early Beolink Active kits need a software/firmware update to access audio -aux?

Thanks for the answer Nick, never thought about bluetooth transmitters. But, isn't there a way to just plug the aux directly to the speakers?
Quite an ingenious way to do it btw, would you mind linking some of the hardware you used on your setup (or something similare) just to give me an idea of what wold be appropriate?
Thanks again, regards.
The intelligent system link is lost when the B&O telly is removed, but to an extent, restored when using the Beolink Active. This solution will certainly work for audio, you will be able to play cd and radio via the installed speakers without new cabling. The problem with tv sound via the system,is getting the signal to the BS3000 aux port. That's where the Bluetooth option comes in of course.
It's also an elegant solution in that it utilises the digital output port of the tv,so that the sound quality is optimal, whereas via the headphone port,it's not so good.Connecting here may mute the internal speakers in the tv too,and depend upon the setting of the tv remote control.
I have a Beolink Active,I'll set it up and have a tinker, and see what can be done.
I've been trawling the invaluable Beoworld archive, and find that other's have used the Beolink active for this application too.
Steve (Sounds Heavenly)even makes a dedicated cable for it,but you will need the Beolink Active type 1636,which incorporates an input socket for connecting eg a pc,media server,or 'phone etc.
I would still recommend connecting to the tv via a digital to analogue converter, and I used a small well made device made by Neoteck (192khz DAC).This has an output level adjuster, and all connecting cables are included in the kit.It is powered via a spare usb port on the tv.
I bought mine from Amazon (ASIN B01MDOKHKI)but they are probably available elsewhere too
You will need Steve's dedicated Beolink active rca to din cable to connect between the dac and the Beolinkl Active. Not the same as standard rca to din pin out!
To sum up,you will be able to source cd and radio as normal, then for tv sound, you select "pc" on the Beo4,or via BL1000-"Shift-store"
A very neat solution?
Hi Nick,
Thanks for this. Yes, if moving the cables or the Beosound isn't possible, then adding the Beolink Active (type 163x with the PC port fitted) is another option. This cable will connect the headphone output of the TV to the Beolink Active PC port:-
http://soundsheavenly.com/input/68--trs-7pd-16xx-.html
To use an optical to audio converter as Nick suggested, please use this cable instead:-
http://soundsheavenly.com/link-systems/109--2rca-7pd-16xx-.html
This version of Beolink Active only has one Powerlink socket, so please use Powerlink splitters to share this socket between the existing Powerlink cables (you need one splitter for each extra cable to be connected):-
http://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/26-powerlink-compatible-splitter-doubler-2-fully-wired-powerlink-compatible-sockets.html
The Masterlink cable from the Beosound will then connect to the Active (please ensure that the IR eye supplied with the Active is connected).
This will be my solution, I'll buy the cables from you Steve, but I have to find a Beolink Active first. On eBay prices go from 200€ to 500+€, any idea about where I can buy one new at an honest price?
Saw this on eBay.co.uk

Looks like good value as it includes the eye.
