Just to let you know that after a few months the alu round cover of my trusty Beoplay A1 became loose and could fall off any time (scary when you pick the speaker by the cover instead of the leather strap).

I used it with care like that untill I realised that it had a warranty.

Send it very easily to Beoplay service center last week via UPS that collected it to my door and just received a mail saying that a brand new A1 was on the way with a new warranty.

Now that's a great warranty service.

Couldn't keep that for me !

Better yet, they restart the clock on the warranty period.

I had exactly the same issue and it was sent back to me as non repairable/swappable, so I was a little unhappy. I managed to prize the plastic clips back and refit the the top, you can't even purchase the tops as an accessory now!

Wow, so I'm lucky on this one then.

Of course the cover can be glued but what a mess if you want to take it off to change a tweeter or battery !

After one week, froggy (brand new) is back via UPS.

I find the quality of the leather bad compared to my previous model but the quality of the buttons better.

I never noticed before that the cable is branded B&O at both ends, nice.

I also notice a white noise when the speaker is waiting for music, was lower on the previous one. No big deal for me, if I don't listen to music it's immediately off.

Again, great warranty service.

Only have great experience with B&O. I head a pair of H6's that came with a loose connection. The (non-B&O) dealer refused to replace them, and let me know that there was nothing they could do due to "B&O policy".

Well I complained to B&O and they promptly called the dealer and gave him a stern talking-to, after which he sheepishly called me up and let me know that I could come around and pick up a replacement pair whenever I wanted.

Speaking of 'the leather strap'.

If that is broken, can you replace it yourself - and how?

Anyone had that problem already?

Probably not an issue for a 'warranty replacement' ;-)

It appears to be a strip of leather threaded through a hole and tied in a knot. It should be doable.

I just stated that I find the quality of the leather strap not as good as the previous one.

I had a soft dark brown strap now it's a hard clear brown strap.

No big deal at all it will stay like that.

Maybe their financial controlling showed them where Beoplay can save a few cents on every product... but didn't think or care about the lowered quality perception of the customer. ;-)

According to all the positive reviews the Beoplay H6 and the A1 are such a success for Bang & Olufsen... how can you dare to lower the quality of such products? That wouldn't be a very clever move.

But I also said that I feel the "buttons" are better it seems much easier to press on/off or +/- than before.

So overall it's still an excellent product !

I've read that and it's positive and nice to know.

It sounds great for its size but it still looks ugly for my eyes ;-)

Not sure the hardness of the leather indicates it's poorer quality - often just how the leather has been finished. Maybe the softer leather wasn't ideal for the original A1?

I have an old green and newer black model and the leather is different, but not sure if it's a quality over functionality change.

From my little experience with the older A1 (7 months), the "new" harder leather feels and looks much cheaper.

But I reckon it's only a detail (worth mentioning because we love details !).

Yes, could be a functionality change but for my indoor use can't find the reason of such a change (maybe for a great outdoors use).
