Hi,

I have a beoVision 11 and have an Amazon firestick plugged in to a usb port in the back.   Been ok for a couple of months but now I get a message that the stick is overheating so I then switch off.  Anyone have a solution to the problem?

Also generally I like the tv but am frustrated by the lack of useful apps - hence the firstick.   Would I be better with a humax box?  Which one?

Thanks

Hi and welcome on Beoworld,

the Firestick is a streaming device - the Humax box/es is/are primarily tv box/es, as far as I know.

Can't say anything about them.

Have you tried to have your Firestick at a USB extension cable? That should keep it away from the heat, that the BV11 produces.

Sorry, I wasn't quick enough to notice you writing USB.

You probably mean: to a HDMI input (the USB might be used too, for power)?

This means - my suggestion should be:

Have you tried the Firestick with a HDMI extension cable....?

Generally the Firesticks tend to get rather hot.

Hi MM,

Thank you for your suggestion - and yes it's hdmi.  I'll get a cable and update you later.

The humax was a suggestion in that although it has a hard drive it also gives you access to Netflix, etc - maybe more expensive than a firestick though!  Also people have said to me that humax enhances the picture.  Still open to having a humax because I could run it with one handset (which I like) but will try extension hdmi first.

Thanks, Al

Just wondered if you had managed to get a wire yet and whether that helped because I'm curious about getting a firestick for a beovision 11.

This (https://www.amazon.co.uk/All-New-Stick-Remote-Streaming-Player/dp/B01ETRIFOW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1501405828&sr=8-3&keywords=fire+stick+plug) seems to suggest it comes with a HDMI extender, did yours not?

Hi Col,

I got the firestick from the B&O shop when I bought the TV and there wasn't an extender.  However I have now got one and have been using it for a few days without any overheating message.

When I opened the back of the TV to remove the firestick I found it encased in the back and the set at the back was warm even though the tv wasn't on.  So the firestick was in an enclosed warm area and that probably caused the overheating.   The tv seems to be permanently on standby but eventhough it did seem strange that it was so warm at the back.

Anyway firestack now on with extended hdmi lead and working fine.  Success!

Al
