Hi all.
I wonder if someone have any modern amplifier to recommend for Beovox M100(?)
At the moment I am using Technics SA AX730, and it sounds nice, but I imagine they would sound even more controlled with a more powerfull amp.
The new amp should be a 2 ch stereo, integrated or separated pre/power. Do not need to be brand new..
(Searched the forum, and did not find a thread regarding this subject)
Thanks in advance!
Marius
Hi - I use mine with a Linn LK140 connected to Beolink Active - sounds really good with enough power to drive them. I am thinking of getting a Yamaha netwotk receiver instead as it has streaming, phono input and internet radio all in one package rather than the mess of different bits I currently have - also looks quite retro - only thing I am worried about is how it will sound - will it be as good as the current setup? So interested to know what other people are using with their M100's
Hi - quick update on this - I have now ordered a Linn Kolekt pre amp to partner the LK140 so will update on the results. The LK140 connected to the Beolink Passive produced improvements over the Beolink Passive Amp =- which has to be said is perfect with S40-2's and still a very good amp. The Kolekt will be standalone in my study and controlled with a Beo4 via a lintronic system - I can push the sound through to the rest of the house via Beolink Converter and use existing beolink products.
I've also replaced Playmaker with a Musical Fidelity V90 DAC - this seems to be more natural and bass is better, treble is more refined but mids about the same - my next step is to take the digital out from my iPad 2 through a cam kit and the digital extrator into the V90 so that there is no airplay involved. Having said that the Playmaker is still very good and later on will be used with BL8000's as a standalone streaming system in another place - one added benefit is that the new ATV4 can be streamed to the Playmaker and volume controlled so it is perfect to use that system with my Projector.
Really want to get the best from my M100's - has anyone else tried them with other amps apart from B&O or a mix? My favourite amp though was still the Beomaster 6000 before it packed up so will be interested to see how the new setup works out. I had considered getting another one or Beomaster 8000, but, they are so complex, dont have all the inputs I want and without anyone locally to service or repair I thought I would try another solution.
I've now got the Linn Kolektor and have had a chance to listen - first impression was not good - sounded muffled to me - however on playing a few tracks I realised I was used to have trebble and bass to max and so this couloured sound - the bass and treble on the linn are very discreet and after a while voices and instruments do actually sound really clear and very lifelike - in fact the more I listen the better I like the sound.
I'd say there is a distinctive B&O sound and nothing wrong with it, however the linn combo is quite a good partner with the M100's and certainly it's very lifelike without being coloured, The M100;s handle the bass from the linn brilliantly without sounding boomy. It's a different listening experience rather than a fantastic upgrade.
