I recently bought a Beolab 14 5.1. Figured since the Beolab 14 comes with the D-SUB15 plug with 10 speaker wires so I purchased the Denon x2400h without the pre-outs instead of the Denon x4300h that does.
Followed the direction on the manual to have the speaker wires connected to the AVR while setting the Beolab 14 MODE to AMP, PHASE at 0 and LFE to +10dB; however, when I plug in the power cord the system started making this loud buzzing noise even with the AVR turned off.
Originally, the Beolab 14 power cable was connected directly to the wall plug while the AVR to extension cord so I switched it over to the extension cord think it might be interference but that didn't solve the problem. Only when I switched the MODE to LINE did the system stop making the loud buzzing noise; however, I know this is an incorrect setup because LINE is supposed to be used when Beolab 14 is connected to the AVR using RJ45 to Phono.
At this point I am not sure what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Hi Lightsyde,
Sorry to hear that you are having problems. It is worth double-checking the wires going to the receiver terminals - are they 100% correct and are all the connections tight? Only one wire in the wrong place or touching a nearby terminal can cause noise problems. Is the buzzing coming from all the satellite speakers and the subwoofer, or just from one speaker?
It is because of issues like this that I don't usually recommend the D-Sub cable that B&O supply with the Beolab 14. Instead, here are some options to consider if you can't get the noise issue resolved:-
1) Return the receiver and upgrade to one with pre-outs for all channels (eg. Denon X4300), or
2) Use separate signal attenuators and RCA to RJ45 cables to link the existing receiver to the Beolab 14 via the normal Powerlink inputs (please let me know if you would like details of the items needed for this option).
Kind regards, Steve.

Hello Steve,
Thanks for the explanation.
Originally I had all 5 speakers hooked up and if my memory serves all of them were making the buzzing noise but not the sub. I then removed 3 speakers and left only the front L/R speakers and at least one of them were buzzing. I tried loosen the speakers wires connecting to the AVR and re-connect them but the problem still persists.
I think at this point I am leaning towards purchase the RCA to RJ45 cables and exchange the AVR for the Denon X4300 w/ pre-outs.
Since I am really new at this, I am worried that the buzzing noise was a sign of blown speakers or the speakers were malfunctioning. However, I was told by the seller, who works for B&O, that these speakers were demo units for marketing before and were never sold or used.
