Hi everyone,

I have a question to all those who own the new Beoplay H9 headphones (or even other wireless Beoplay headphones like H8 and H7, as their battery seems to be similar/identical).

After charging the headphones until the LED shows a steady green light, I regularly observe that the battery level of the headphones displayed on my phone is only 90%, immediately after connecting the seemingly fully charged headphones. As the battery level is only shown in 10% steps on the iPhone, I assumed the precise battery level to be somewhere between 90% and 100%. On my smartwatch it somehow shows the battery level in 1% steps, and my assumption proved right, as there the level is always displayed to be around 97% right after charging, so not 100% even though the LED is green. Even when I then charge the headphones again right away, and it blinks orange for some time, I never get above 98% displayed battery level after reaching the green light.

This seems just a minor issue of course, but I'm still curious if anyone experiences the same with their headphones?

Also, I tried connecting the headphones while still on the charger (green LED) and it shows the battery level to be 100%, but right after disconnecting from the charger it switched to 90% on the iPhone and 97% on the smartwatch. Does the battery maybe just need to be recalibrated by the software? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I believe I have seen 100%

And also that the headphones will hold the charge for quite some time when not being used

Have you tried checking via the BeoPlay app ?

I have, but it only shows that little battery icon in the upper right corner, right? It looks almost full (as in 90%) but not completely full.

I have exactly the same problem with my H9.

Even when fully charged with the green light, my iPhone will routinely only report a maximum of 90%. I have managed to get it to display 100% once, when I completely drained the battery and recharged it fully. I have not done this since so I only ever get a maximum display of 90% because I never fully discharge them in real-world use.

It doesn't seem to be an issue, as I am getting the promised battery life out of them - it's just that it's not being reported accurately. Perhaps a software update to the H9 can fix this.

Good to hear that I'm not the only one with the issue! And yes, I also get the promised battery life, so you're probably right with your assumption that it's only a matter of the software reporting a wrong battery charge.

Hello

I have a similar problem...the charge only lasts about a day or so, even when the headphones are not used?

In addition if I try to charge the headphones (via the USB cable) whilst they are plugged into my laptop, I hear a loud hissing sound and I'm not sure if the noise cancelling function is working as I can't hear a different between it being turned on and off :(

Has anyone else noticed this?

I reached out to B&O about this issue and was told that since it can only report in 10% increments on certain devices, it will round down to the nearest multiple of 10. Thus, a 99% charge is reported as 90%. Annoying, and it's possible that it could be fixed at some point, but for now at least I know it's not a defect.
