Hi all

I've had a problem with one Beolab 8000 lighting green but no sound so have not watched tv for a few months.

Investigated tonight...

So after having switched the TV on with a new lead to the Beolab 8000 only to find a quiet hum to the central speaker and only one 8000 - DVI cable out but sound obviously not happening in one speaker. I put the set in standby to go and google to see if others have had said problem.

Within a few moments I could hear crackles - being as it's early November I assumed this could be fireworks, however I was greeted by huge amounts of really thick white smoke pouring out of the two fan vents - immediately switched off.

A couple of thoughts - what caught fire and why? Why on earth did the fuse not pop or the RCD for the house not go? Can this be fixed or has this TV come to the end of it's life?

I feel I already know the answer to my question, but... What do you think happened and is it economical to fix?

Best from Cornwall

Pete
