Hi all..
I have bought a defect BL7000, where the display does not turn on, and the text "squares" in the display, just blinks..
I have tested both the processor module, and the display in another working BL7000, both works. So far so good.
The error must be in the power module under the mirror plate.
I will change the same transistor and capacitor as one I had some time ago with defect background light, but I dont think this is the problem with this one. I think the way to do the fault finding is by having the defect and a working one side by side, and measure voltages on the 2 and compare.
But before I do that, has anyone seen this error before ?
The remote is totally dead besides the blinking display blocks.
/Jacob
Hi Jacob,
The blinking text "square" makes me think of a problem with the Nicd Battery but I think you took care of that.
Can you tell us how much voltage you have at the input of the display module (the two red/black wire that goes from the mirror plate to the display) ?
I remembre reading about someone on this forum that has some issues with this remote with a similar problem (but not identical), he finally found out the source and fix it by replacing a transistor (TR something). I'll try to search for it and get back to you.

That was actually me that changed the transistor :)
The back light is not working on this BL7000 either, so I will change the transistor on this one also, I just don't think this is the issue here.
I have also tried another battery, not that either, so I will do a "measure and compare" on a working remote to find out where the difference is,
Ok, let us know the results !
BTW if needed I have some second hand spare parts for BL7000 (almost a full remote).

It is now fixed, the problem was a bad Zener diode (4v3) used amongst other parts, for the backlight. That caused bad voltage that confused the processor.
All is working now :)
