I purchased a Beosystem 2500, new, many years ago. It has been working perfectly until recently. The majority of the time the sound settings change from zeros to the following:
Bass -6
Treble - 6
Balance -7
When this happens the B&O handset fails to work.
Within a few seconds of playing a CD unit stops playing - I have to press the CD button again on the 2500 to get the unit working again - the CD player picks-up from the point where it stopped on the track.
Each time I turn on the 2500 I have to reset the above settings to my preffered choice, all on zero, which hold whilst the unit stays on. Switching the mains power off and back on again causes the settings to return back to the minus settings shown above.
Very occassionally the settings will hold after turning the unit back the next day and the B&O handset will work.
Is there a factory reset technique that I can try on the 2500 to see if this will clear the problem?
Is this more likely to be failing electronics?
Hello and welcome to Beoworld!
When weird things like this happen, it can come from an empty battery (the one that keeps the settings).
It is possible to change it, but it is not so simple (you may need to solder a little ...) and you will have to dismount many things to access this battery.
Have a look in the "workbench" sub forum to learn/ask more
