My 2012 V1-40 is experiencing problems with IR remote commands.

I initially spotted a problem when the V1 did not seem to respond correctly to my Beo4.

My initial thought was that the batteries in my Beo4 were in need of replacement, but after changing them, the V1 still did not respond.

In order to determine whether or not the problem is with the V1 or the remote, I have been testing the past 2 days and found the following:

- the V1 accepts commands in the morning, or when it has been turned off for a while

- the V1 stops responding to commands when it has been on for more than 1 hour (this could be shorter if the room temperature is higher)

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

We are currently using the B&O app to control the it - works nicely when the connection is established. However - to establish the connection we power off the TV for a minute or so. Thereafter we can connect and control all features via the B&O App.

My current hypothesis is that some cooling fan has stopped working, IR is not working or motherboard is failing (input from the lokal B&O shop - 1000 EUR to repair).

Any kind of help would be much appriciated.

Cheers, Steen

Had the same issue. Was no other choice than to replace the motherboard. It cost me nearly 700€.

Also experienced same problem with the IR sensor and the motherboard was replaced under warranty. V1 40” from 2012.

Despite the bad news, hopefully this helps you choosing between your options.

Thanks for the fast reply - not the answer that we had hoped for but at least it seems that the B&O repair store is honest. Their price is also appr. 700€ :-(

Not the quality that we are used to from B&O products - but okay this is also their 'cheap' line... :-)

We will consider a bit more - can still operate the TV with the B&O app - but have to pull the power off/on before it works...

Regarding the Beoremote app, it's actually weird that it lacks a 'Power on' command. It's only possible to use the app when the TV is already turned on. But when the IR does no longer work, how to power on the TV?

You can start the tv from the app by wake up on lan, but I believe you also have to set up the quick start timers. And you need the remote for accessing the menu. Not sure if the remote app will give you this access, worth trying.

Hi Griebel

Yes - it's strange. What we currently do is power off the tv completely for approx. 10-20sec. and then power on again. After that we can connect with the B&O app until the TV is turned off again for some time.

Hi Fansastic

Thanks for your answer. Sounds great if we can start the tv from the app with wake up on lan setting up the quick start timers - can you explain a bit on how we set that up, as we can't start it with the app today. Can you somehow explain where we have to look - the app give access to the Menu :-)

If we can start the tv with the app as well - guess no need to offer a repair of 700 EUR :-D

Hi Steen,

To put the tv in wake up mode, please go to settings/energy saving/network/wake-on-lan and select on (if wireless connection then wlan)

I’m not sure if this only works when the tv is in a quick start time frame. To set this up go to

settings/energy saving/stand-by/quick start-timers/ and set your preferred time windows.

after this you can turn on and off the tv through the app. If you still need to pull the power cord, you are looking at a new motherboard

Good luck!

Be aware that the newer b&o app will ot support full remote control. The app you are using is no longer available in the app store (as far as I know), so make a proper back-up of your phone also..

Maybe this problem effects more 2012 V1 models, a combined complaint to B&O might give you a extra discount on the needed repairs

Yes - you are right in that - we are just happy not having to spend 700 EUR at the moment. And yes we are rally not happy with B&O on this product - major fail after only 5 years - not the normal B&O standard even on their 'cheap' line.

So yes really happy not having to have it repaired now - but at the same time not satisfied with the product (and customer support/repair price which is around 1/3 - 1/2 of the total reselling price.)

If more joins the tread - perhaps I'll address B&O directly... ;-)

Cheers, Steen
