Hi!

New member and first post:)

Is there a bluetooth audio receiver that I could plug into my 4500 system? Eg throught the AUX port?

Currently I connect my phone with a a 3.5mm -> Din adapter but it would be nice to get rid of the cables. Perhaps even be able to control playback with beolink1000?

Had a look at playmaker and beosound core but Im not sure if that would work.

Any help appreciated:)

Hi Frenfrost and welcome to Beoworld.

I use a Google Chromecast Audio in several B&O systems. It works off your wifi rather than bluetooth and consequently has better sound quality and less drop outs. £30 from Currys and you'll be able to use the lead you currently use to connect to your 4500 system. You can hide all the leads behind the system and control everything for you phone / tablet. It really does work very well.

Cheers

Nigel

You can use any BT receiver with the Aux-in on the BS4500.

But beware - not all BT receivers are good.

And you surely can use a Playmaker, a Core or an Essence this way too.

Use the PL-ouput of the Playmaker etc - RJ45 to red/white analog to usual 5 pin DIN connector on the BM. The B&O dealer will have these cables or the site sponsor Steve SoundsHeavenly.

Note: the Playmaker etc must be set to ‘fixed line-out’ - the volume control will be in the BM.

And - welcome to Beoworld.

Thank you both!

I use chromecast throughout the house and its brilliant but I wouldnt be able to control it with bl1000.

Would playmaker, core or essence allow for remote control?

Its not really a necessary feature but it would be nice to have:)

No, you would not be able to control the Chromecast- it is just a music sourse on the Aux-in.

You could use the Playmakers as is - it has an ir-receiver built-in.

But you would have to deal with multiple volume controls then - not handsome.

And the Playmaker only supports AirPlay and DLNA playback.

In order to have remote control of the Essence, you must add an ir-eye to it.

There is no ir control on the Core.

Why not just use the remote of the BSys4500 as suggested above....

....either with the Chromecast device - or alternatively with the Essence.

The Essence would give you Chromecast, Spotify Connect, AirPlay, DLNA and built-in Tunein/netradio controlled by the Bang & Olufsen app.

This is - by the way - something, that several B&O users (including me) do.

For a high quality Bluetooth receiver, I highly recommend the Audioengine B1. I know a couple of us Beoworlders use it and are satisfied.

Hi Fermfrost,

If you have a Beosystem 4500 I think you should look into this bluetooth solution from loudlink. With this one you can control the bluetooth connected device via datalink that is available on all source connector on Beomaster 4500.

Youtube clip how it works

Link to their home page where you can buy it (currently 126€)

Regards
Stefan
