Hi!

I'm new to the forum and have done some searches but can't really find a solution to my potential issue.

I own 4 BeoPlay A6 and an A9 (gen 1). I AirPlay to them currently using iTunes on my mac. A friend has a BeoSound Moment and a pair of BeoLab 12-2 that he wants to sell me. While this will make a nice listening system in my living room, I would really like to be able to push that music to all my BeoPlays as well. This shouldn't be an issue with the A6s, but I know the A9 (gen 1) doesn't support BeoLink. So my question is:

Short of selling the A9 and getting a mk2 (which I don't really want to do), is there any solution at all that I can enable the A9 using any other protocol, hardware / software, etc??

Thanks so much.

Add an essence to the MK1.

That's great news! Thanks so much for the quick reply!

Is the A9 gen 1 compatible with the newer essence or do I need to source a mk 1 essence?

I would temper this solution :

Adding an essence mk2 (mk1 is not multiroom compatible, like your mk1 A9) to the line in of the A9 gen 1 will add complexity in selecting sources (and turning on Beoplay after turning on Essence is annoying...), bulkiness (where will you hide the Essence?) PLUS adding an essence mk2 to your A9 will cost approximately the same as what you will loose in the upgrade from A9 to A9 mkII.

So : Go for A9 mkII and try to get a good price from your mk1

Agree it is cumbersome.. But much more affordable solution.

I would think you could trigger the a9 via line in auto selection?

Then use the wheelie remote?

I use Airfoil on OSX to get my mk1 A9 handle wifi multiroom perfect combined with my newer two A6.

It's a great preforming software by rouge amoeba.. super easy, blistering fast, non-bloated.. zero latency, no lag, and perfect soundquality..

great EQ, and presets.. volume for individual speakers sepatrately on the go, latency sync, master volume.. etc.

Seems like lots of people is unaware about how easy it is to use your Gen 1 Beoplay A9 in multiroom, just because B&O says it won't!

Best 50€ you ever spent, if you own a almost 2000€ Gen 1 beoplay A9 and want multiroom features :)
