I've just finished restoring a Beocord 1200. All functions now work but on reassembly, the plate covering the reels is touching something on the rewind side. I think it has had this issue before it came into my possession as there is a rubbing mark on the top of the plate from tapes as if someone didn't click the plate in place in order to solve the problem. There doesn't appear to be anymore play in the rewind reel assembly than the fast forward side. Has anyone got any suggestions? Nothing can be seen once the plate is in position.

Regards

After spending a couple of hours, I can answer my own question and for anyone who might be interested, the worst type of fault in anything is a human introduced one. In my case, someone must have removed the idler wheels during the servicing process and reinstalled Idler Wheel F upside down. The pin protruded far enough to touch the top plate causing no rewind.

Rudy
