Hi all,
Prompted by another thread in this forum I thought I would put up a few pictures of how I manage the cables from my Avant55.
I was never really happy with the standard design of the beautiful Aluminium stand and the black steel post with a cable sock for the cords so I got to work on making it look a bit more integrated.
In my setup I have my equipment/connections (Blu-ray player, aerial socket, LAN etc) in a built-in timber cabinet to the side of the TV. I then have to run my cables from the cabinet to the Avant.
What I did was run the cables from the underside of the cabinet into a “false” skirting board which I made out of a rectangular PVC section, painted white, and attached with Velcro strips to the existing timber skirting board. Next I ran the cables up the steel post as normal, but I slid an aluminium tube from my local hardware shop over the top. I polished the tube with some steel wool so that it would match with the aluminium of the Avant stand. I then used the cable sock to gather the cables at the top of the tube and run them into the TV.
It took a fair amount of mucking about, but I am really happy with the result which looks seamless and very B&O if I do say so myself
This may provide other OCD folk like myself with some ideas on how to deal with the cables!
Regards,
Dion.

Looks really great!
How did you get the aluminium tube to stand straight when the TV is turned?

Hi Hiort,
The standard black steel bar/support is still there and attached the to base as normal, this holds everything in place. Inside the tube are the cables (power, LAN, HDMI, PUC...) and the steel bar. You can think of the tube as another form of cable sock.
The key is to pick a tube with an internal diameter that can just accommodate the thickness of the cables and the steel bar. That way everything fits in but it's tight enough that it doesn't move around. The hard part is threading it all through, as I have sized the tube for the cables and not for the plugs on the ends. Getting the HDMI through first is important.
I have attached another photo below. In this one, I have pulled the tube up a bit so you can see the cables coming in from the false skiting and the standard steel bar still attached to the Avant stand.
Hopefully this makes it a bit clearer, let me know if not.
Aussie Michael:That’s a nice solution - lucky to have the power plug on the side of the room so you can run it neatly like that. It surely will provide inspiration to a lot of people For example when B&O came out to do the quote for the install i thought i was getting a neater solution and all they did was put the power board on the ground and just left it there, so like you i have had to devise my own solution. For people like me that have their power outlet low and right behind the Avant, a “bigger” false skirting board can be used like yours where you can’t escape how it is set up. Well done. I notice that your tag line says it all started 15 years ago with a pair of A8 headphones. That’s the same as me. 15years ago, A8s.

Hi Michael,
I agree, the B&O installation is very "basic".
I was partly prepared for this, so I had my electrician install a power point inside the cabinet. I also had the standard powerpoint and aerial socket directly behind the TV which I had terminated and plastered over. The B&O contractors then did their standard install with black cable socks everywhere. I then got to devising a better solution
BTW - I still love the A8s. I don't use them very often anymore, but there is something magical about all the moving parts...

Seanie_230:Sitting thinking about your setup today. It has made me think about mine, I think I will get an aluminium or steal pole, drill a power cable connector hole at the back at an angle. This will allow me to put all leads for the lab 9 inside and an extension lead cable up it along with the two sky cables which I will reroute in via the old Ariel cable back box I just need to drill a hole. Then it has to be the brackets from STB to mount skyq PS4 and a small extension lead on the back. This will look amazing just need to make a start, other half really happy as I will finally paint the wall now too as nothing stopping me. Thanks for the idea.

Hi Seanie,
that sounds like a great solution. I look forward to seeing pictures of your setup!
Glad to have been able to help with the idea.
