Type L v Type M speakers

I currently have a vintage set up comprising of a 610 amplifier, 42 VF record player and a couple of Type L 607 speakers in rosewood. 

I have sourced some Type S speakers and wondered if these would be an upgrade? I know both speakers are vintage and unlikely to sound 'hi-fi' but I like having the correct speakers for the correct period!

Any thoughts on the Type S speakers welcome!

Type L would be the best, but it's a matter of taste, really.
- And placement opportunities.

With 610 amp i would also prefer Type L but more for optical reason as Type L have gray frets. In my set with 608 amp I am using Type S (and occasionally the latter Type M) speakers because of their blue frets which match the blue color of the 608 dial perfectly.

In my opinion Type S are soundwise clearly better choice as Type M. Unfortunately I never heart the Type L  and cannot judge about their sound.
