Hello,
I have finally jumped into the world of the B&O. I've waited a very long time for this and I'm glad to find this website to walk me through most of my noob questions.
I just purchased a Beogram 8002 that seems to be in pretty good shape. However, when I hold the base of the tracking arm - big black piece of plastic connected to track - I can move the entire inner workings toward the back and front by about 1/4" each way. Is this normal or is something not attached correctly?
Also, is there a way to avoid the sound of the stylus moving over the brush at the start and end of each play?
Thanks for any help!

Hi and welcome to Beoworld.
That amount of movement doesn't sound normal - if it plays for now, fine, you can easily examine it later, they are easy enough to open up. Only do this if you know what you're doing and with Silver or Gold membership you have access to online manuals.
Take the brush off - it just pulls up. Don't use them as they bend the cantilever the wrong way to how they are supposed to be used.

I dont know the BG 8002, but the muting relay should activate sound at set down and deactivate sound at lift off., If you have noise from the pickup when moving over the brush, something is wrong with the muting relay (Contacts), this just a thought, thats the way it is in my other TTs, as far as I remember
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Thanks for the information. Most helpful!
If the movement of the carriage assembly also brings with it the platter etc. it's quite normal andpart of the suspension. If the carriage moves the described distance on it's own, it hasn't seated properly in its tracks orone or more of the tracks clamps have broken.
