I currently subscribe to Apple Music, having previously used Deezer. I have ordered a Beosound Moment & it seems Deezer is the preferred service, although I seemed to think Spotify would also integrate with B&O sound and TV systems.

Anyone had experience with Spotify with the Moment?

I had Spotify for years until I ordered my moment when I had to switch to deezer.

Then because they refuse to allow MultiRoom play on a bang and Olufsen system I moved to Deezer and cancelled Spotify

I loved Spotify because it was generally just better and much easier to use. I loved following playlists that were updated by others in a much better way than Deezer.

Still Spotify lost a customer

Apple Music would be great on the moment.

I too swapped to Deezer because of my B&O obsession. I like it quite a bit, the music recommendation is brilliant (guessing that along with their European routes are why B&O like them). Haven't used Spotify for almost a year but found it's recommendations rubbish. It is weird Moment doesn't have Spotify Connect though - it is great how it treats the Spotify App on your phone as a remote essentially.

Thanks for the replies. I'd have liked to have kept Apple Music, but looks like I may have to go Deezer. Deezer does integrate well with iTunes on my Mac, so it's not all bad.

I have an Essence Mark 2 and I have used Deezer, Spotify, Apple's new Music, and TuneIn.

I rate Apple first - I already have tens of recommended playlists down loaded.

Followed by Spotify - I prefer its interface, linkages to friends' tastes via FaceBook, and search capabilities.

I would rate TuneIn next.

And Deezer last.

It does beg the question why B&O chose Deezer as it's partner for streaming music?

Think it's all about licensing Multiroom capabilities. Sonos have an exclusive deal with Spotify. Apple are generally difficult to deal with, and require 100% control over design.

I didn't realise Spotify has an exclusive deal with Sonos. Spot on re Apple. They don't need to promote its service through a third party.

Apple has done a deal with Sonos for Apple's music to be an option.

When using Apple Music through the essence it goes through the mobile device though right? Deezer is built in so I find it better. Or am I wrong, does Apple Music start simply from the Essence Remote without needing to do anything on the phone/tablet?

I think Deezer's recommendation/flow is pretty brilliant.

I bought Moment in January this year.  The salesperson told me to open a Deezer account and enjoy the first month free of charge as a trial period first before activating the complimentary 12-month Deezer subscription.  But when I tried to activate the complimentary subscription I realized that it's only valid to 31 Dec 15!  When I contacted the B&O shop where I bought the Moment, the staff told me to contact Deezer directly as they could do nothing about it.   I feel that as this 12-month free subscription is offered by B&O to its customers, it should be B&O who should sort it out with Deezer and not tell the customer to do it himself.

Anyway, I didn't pursue this matter further as, after using it for a month, Deezer is just not my favourite.  I'm currently a subscriber of both Apple Music and Spotify, they both offer a huge catalogue of international music.  Deezer, in comparison, seems to be having a smaller collection and fewer latest music as the other two streaming services.

No, you are correct. When using Apple Music on Essence, it goes through the mobile device. You send over Airplay or Bluetooth to Essence.

Correct. However seeing that Sonos have integrated Apple Music just like B&O did for Deezer and sort of for Spotify (B&O use the Spotify connect app approach for at least the Essence) we know it could be done properly ... if B&O are prepared to invest eg Sonos had five developers at last year's Apple WW Developer Conference

Yes, It´s doable. But it requires some investment as you say. Let´s hope B&O take the plunge to support Apple Music on Moment and Essence. Guess it must be easier on Essence, since there is no GUI required.

I'd be more interessed in using Spotify for multiroom.

Don't many of the features of the Moment become pretty useless without using Deezer? Mood Wheel and PatternPlay?

MW and PP aren't specific functions of Deezer.

They would work with (I guess) any streaming service, as well as they work with your own collection/NAS.

It may be easier with Deezer, because they seem more cooperative.

Personally I'd go for Deezer, if I had a Moment (you don't use the Deezer interface there).

But since I am an Essence-guy (no MW and PP), I prefer Spotify.

I simply find the interface better and can use the Connect feature with other devices as well.

Still, having Deezer with the Essence gives you more options for multiroom playing.

Momentarily I use both. Deezer came discounted with my mobile service - and I have and have gone used to Spotify for years.

Anyway - music listening is for me nowadays much cheaper than when I had to buy cd's....and makes much more fun :-)

I wouldn't know which one to ditch ;-(

No, Qobuz also streams non-compressed. And they have a much larger catalogue of jazz and classical. But admittedly maybe not available everywhere.

As far as I am concerned: Qobuz forever :-)

Yeah for me this makes Apple Music a bit of a no-go as it needs to work as easily as a HiFi of old - without another device needed at least. Surely to MM's point though this means MoodWheel and PatternPlay don't work with Apple Music, and not Spotify either from what I can tell from the B&O site. Erm..

Yep. MoodWheel and PatternPlay only take your DLNA source and Deezer into account.

As far as I know has the Moment Spotify Connect in it's official latest release.

This doesn't work when your setup  contains a NL-ML converter. Probably a multiroom-issue.

What is your point with referring to TuneFab? The OP asked what music service is preferable for use with a Beosound Moment.

It is in my view Deezer HiFi. Not because I prefer this service, but all functions on the Moment are best and easiest to work with this service.

The Moment gives you the option to subscribe to Deezer Hifi. Also a non-compressed (CD quality) service.
