I have just bought a pre-owned Beosound Moment at a very reasonable price, roughly 150 EUR above the Beosound Core price which I thought is a bargain. The intention is to utilize two main features: MoodWheel and PatternPlay with streaming content only (Deezer and TuneIn).
While I wait for the shipment, let me ask for an advice: how do I set Moment up without connecting any speakers? Would it be possible to just plug in some Powerlink cables and make Moment "believe" there are some speakers connected, or should I buy one Beolab Receiver1 and again emulate WISA speaker just to be able to finish the setup.
At one point I plan to buy a pair of Beolab 18s, but for now I would like to use Moment in - for example - MoodWheel mode and then join my A9 to whatever Moment streams - this is how I intend to get the sound. Will Moment work at all even after the setup if it senses there are no speakers connected? Any help is very much appreciated. :)
That's a good price.
The Moment has suffered from a lack of software attention, but with the current release - v.2.2 - it's much improved - and streamed content (as long as you have a good Internet connection) work much better than local, NAS-based content. Sweeping statement, but I think most owners would agree.
The Moment can distribute via Multiroom, so you should be OK. You'll probably have to start a playback session and join the A9 every time, as opposed to a permanent link.
I would suggest a wired connection to your Internet router if possible - i've experienced slow operation with the wireless - but your setup may be less prone to noise.
Good luck!
Hi AnalogPlanet,
That sounds like you got a good deal! Just plugging in an RJ45 Powerlink cable won't tell the Moment that speakers are connected. Instead, you need a Speaker Sense Plug and RJ45 Adapter to emulate the resistance of Beolab speakers if you don't have real speakers plugged into the Moment:-

Yes, this is how I anticipated it and I am fine for the time being - just need some time to make final decision about speakers (placement dilemma).
Good thing is that my router will be just next to the Moment so wired connection definitely is an easy option if wireless will be lagging.

Thanks Steve - order placed.
I have some BL18's and love the sound from the Moment. Beware though, pretty soon you'll be scouring dealers for a BL19's Sub as I was ... and it gets EVEN better then!!
