Happy New Year!

Nowadays more and more electronic thermostatic valves are available. Does anyone know if there would be any which could be controlled by beolink gateway?

Thanks for your thoughts

best regards

Elmar

I control my heating with Nest and use Domoticz software on a raspberry for home automation. I wrote a python script which interfaces the MLGW (probably the same for the BLGW) to the Domoticz software (using sockets on port 9000). Basically, once you have the BLGW interfaced to Domoticz, then you really can control a huge number of systems (see www.domoticz.com). It's open source.

The Nest Thermostat is fully supported directly in the BeoLink Gateway, including two way status feedback on the Web panel, IOS BeoLink app and on the TV's HomeControl menu, same thing goes for the Lutron RA2 wireless Thermostats

Hello!

Thanks for all your thoughts; what I would need - besides a wall mounted thermostat (like the nest, which looks really fine) - are thermostatic valves (hardware) mounted on the radiator; I'm living in a flat, there is a central heating in the cellar (district heating), only the property management has access; I do not have another heating-control only thermostatic valves...The pump runs all the day long; thats why I'm looking for a solution

Best regards

Do you think that custom strings on the MLGW could be used to control Nest directly without using a raspberry pi? I would be interested in exploring this.

Yes, you can usually add motorised heads to existing valve bodies, and these can either be wired or RF.

You would need some central control unit to talk to these (and the stats) but with the right setup it should be possible to setup communication between this central box and the MLGW.

It's something I'm intending to look into in more depth when I have some time - especially since our new boiler is opentherm compatible so there is the potential to control the boiler too.

Martin.

I don't think so as the interface to the Nest is via the Nest REST Apis. It's worth it to look into the Raspberry Pi/ Domoticz combo though as it opens the door to control everything.

I think you are right Frog, I am getting frustrated by all the interfaces, I have spend a fortune on hue and taps (Gira not Hue as they are ugly) and an IO interface, Lutron interface.

Now looking at curtains and gate the best systems work with RTS. Another interface. Also Evohome and floorheating makes sence. I have 8 zones and will be adding 3.

Only problem I am a noob, can’t program api etc. I am looking for this

https://www.domoticahouse.nl/nl/domotica-controllers/9438-domoticz-controller-met-rfxcom.html

Not so worried on the RTS part but heating... to put such a system in with motors it will cost the same as a nest but than per zone and if it doesn’t work? Will it be pretty easy to set up?

You could look at Domoticz with Lightwaverf. Both for heating and lighting. You would need a lightwaverf gateway or a RFXTX433 transceiver to send the rf signals to the switches.

The Lightning I have almodt sorted, but now only looking at curtains and heating. Did you program the Honewell Evohome with domoticz and rfxtrx433e?

Will be a project for the summerWink

Hi Chucky,

That suggestion was mainly for the first question. I also missed your questions in another thread re my TADO set-up.  I'll go and answer there now.

I use Nest, but domoticz has Evohome support , though not through the RFXTX433, but by the evohome gateway.

I need the RFXTX433 for RTS on the blinds..... Really yet another one. The skylights work with IO also the blinds in the skkylights and the curtains with RTS, also in future for the gate I need RTS.

I could use RS232 for the RTS but that is more expensive.
