Just found that one of the bass units on my M100 speakers has seized solid. Disaster!! Not sure what to do about this so have emailed Martin!

That's not good. Has it been in storage or does it appear to have happened spontaneously?

Just had not used it for a while. I'll have to dust down the S45s for the moment!

Pulled the bass driver out and as expected , the magnet has moved sideways. Let's see If I can get it fixed!

Peter,

I'm really sorry to read that. I fear even Martin doesn't have a fix for that - yet!

I have emailed Recone, though I don't think they are active at present, and Tim says he will have a go!

Maybe these guys can help, they say, they are able to rewind coils and repair magnets ...

That's too bad, Peter.  Good luck with the fix.

Thanks for that - I may well ask them if no joy here.

Delighted to say that the drive unit is back from restoration - I hope for some pictures of the process - I had forgotten just how good these speakers sound when driven by the 4401. They have a 33cm bass driver - the biggest I believe fitted by B&O until the Beolab 5. They certainly do not lack in bass!
