Hi Everyone.

Ever since being a teenager in the 1970's I'd always wanted to own a B&O sound system, but you know how things go, and I've only now got the opportunity to indulge myself. However, my project is to set up a system of retro pieces. That in itself isn't a problem, what is however, is to try and marry it in with modern audio technology.

I have a Marantz digital music server for my collection of digital music and I'm looking to purchase a Beogram 1202 turntable to play my vinyl collection.

First Question is; Would I get a better sound quality if I purchased a B&O Amp, and if so what could you recommend within a modest budget and fitting in with the reto feel?

The second question is about speakers. I'm looking at some Beolab 6000 pencil speakers. Has anyone successfully used a wireless system with these or other similar speakers, as I don't want lots of visable wiring.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to Beoworld! A more modern amp would probably be a better option of you want flexibility (e.g; with the wireless setup you mention below), and it'll be worth double checking if you need a pre-amp for the BeoGram too if you haven't already.

As for the wireless aspect of it all, I've got something similar going on myself. I have a BeoCentre 2500 plugged into a Marantz M-CR611 (and then with my TV and Xbox plugged into the Marantz too) with some BeoLab 6000s as speaker set A, and BeoVox C75 for speaker set B and it works great for me for wireless since the Marantz has AirPlay + an app for picking speaker output etc (plus Spotify + Bluetooth if needed). The cables are a little messy, but that's my fault for not hiding them away properly - can definitely be done tidily.

Hi endean0,

Welcome to Beoworld!

I also love retro B&O systems, my own preference is for the late 1980s/early 1990s Beosystems (eg. Beosystem 3500, 4500, 6500, 7000, etc) and I think one of these could be ideal for your needs - they have multiple input connections to link all of your devices, multi-room remote control options and connections for both passive (Beovox) and active (Beolab) speakers.

Why not take a look through the Beoworld product archive pages and choose the systems that interest you most, then let us know your thoughts?  We can then help you to get everything working together.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.
