Hiya follks,
Been searching the forum and Google vigorously and cannot seem to figure out how to set up BL8000s AND a BL2 through an essence to work wirelessly and if I should get the Core and do it because it's still getting the updates and still being produced unlike the Essence MK2.
I figured a Y splitter for the speakers and then a convertor for BL2 but if I went for the Core how would I do this considering there is only one PL slot in the Core as far as I can see from the specs on B&o website..
Please advise! :)
new to the game - awaiting my first BL 8000s MK1
Hi IndyBoy1007,
Welcome to Beoworld! Yes, Lawrence is correct, you just need one Powerlink to RJ45 cable from the Essence or the Core to the Beolab 2 (https://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/31-325-rj45-to-powerlink-compatible-all-in-one-cable-convert-new-2013-ethernet-powerlink-to-traditional-8-pin-din-powerlink.html#/9-length-18m) and then two Powerlink cables from the Beolab 2 to the two Beolab 8000s (https://soundsheavenly.com/powerlink-8-pin-din-connection/20-266-powerlink-mk-3-compatible-8-pin-din-cable-with-4-cores-wired-low-profile-cable.html#/1-length-05m).
Wireless operation is possible, but it gets a bit complex if you want the Beolab 2 to function correctly as a stereo speaker - it would need two Receiver 1 units and a specially wired cable to get stereo sound into the Beolab 2 wirelessly. If the Beolab 8000s are near to the Beolab 2, then you could cable them (as mentioned above) without needing any further Receiver 1s, but if you want all three speakers to be wireless then four Receiver 1s would be needed in total. Please drop me a line via my sponsor link below if you would like more details of the options for connecting these speakers wirelessly and I will be pleased to help.
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.

Hello hello! :) So grateful for the input from you both,
My hope is to be able to play my music from my phone spotify etc through the 8000s and use BL 2 to override bass from the 8000s.
Overriding the base and true stereo are much less important to me at this stage than being able to play to the speakers and subwooferf from my phone which is the main objective - is this the setup you're describing and is this the only way without other hardware?
My (novice) understanding was the core could make the 8000s wireless in fact it says so as an example on the website advert - apologies if I'm being dense here still very new and keen to learn
Please do advise!
Ahh I think I've been unclear - when i said wirelessly I meant to be able to play from my phone to the speakers I didn't mean to imply wireless as in I dont want cables running - hope that helps
Totally my mistake
*facepalm*
Hi,
Yes the Core will allow you to stream music wirelessly from your phone to the Core without any extra hardware needed. It will also stream wirelessly to newer speakers (eg. Beolab 18, 20, etc) with WiSA receivers built in, without anything extra needed.
To get a wireless link from the Core (and hence from your phone) to older speakers like Beolab 2 and 8000, you need B&O's Receiver 1 boxes (one for each mono speaker like Beolab 8000 and two for each stereo speaker like Beolab 2).
Hope this helps.
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"

I think Core does not have WISA bulit in. That was a reason for me to go for the Moment...
Sorry, thanks for the correction!
Think I've really muddled everyone...
I mean wireless from phone to core and then have 8000s cabled to core , have BL 2 cabled to core and play from phone
Is this feasible? I dont mind running wires I just want to play from phone to core wherever i am in the house and want bass to be taken care of by BL2
Very useful to know this too thank you! :)
The Core supports AirPlay and Chromecast protocols to allow you to stream from your phone to the Core. If it’s an iPhone, I recommend using the built-in AirPlay. https://www.bang-olufsen.com/en/collection/sound-systems/beosound-core

No problem, I have copied part of my previous reply above for clarity. You just need one Powerlink to RJ45 cable from the Essence or the Core to the Beolab 2 (https://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/31-325-rj45-to-powerlink-compatible-all-in-one-cable-convert-new-2013-ethernet-powerlink-to-traditional-8-pin-din-powerlink.html#/9-length-18m) and then two Powerlink cables from the Beolab 2 to the two Beolab 8000s (https://soundsheavenly.com/powerlink-8-pin-din-connection/20-266-powerlink-mk-3-compatible-8-pin-din-cable-with-4-cores-wired-low-profile-cable.html#/1-length-05m).
You can then stream music wirelessly from your iPhone to the Essence or Core via Airplay to play to the speakers via these cables.
Exactly, what i was after thank you sir!
Will be picking up my 8000s soon and still on the look out for a BL2!! SOOO excited haha!
I have an android and an iPhone - is there much benefit of the airplay over android?
