Hi there.

I am looking into getting a Beocord V8000 vcr. However, I do not have a b&o tv, but a modern flatscreen. I haven't got the remote control either. Can I still use the VCR for recording and playback?

You could use it manually for playback but not sure about recording - also it needs an analogue signal supplied to the scart socket so won't record from any HDMI devices and I don't think you can record without it being connected to a B&O TV. It would also be difficult if not impossible to access the menu system on it.

The V8000 does not have a 'record' button on the front, hence you would be unable to initiate recordings.

The only way to have full control (including menus) is to connect to a B&O TV and use a B&O remote.  There is a small, short-range IR receiver on one of the interface boards inside the V8000 but that is primarily for service use.  Theoretically you could make a small hole in the V8000's top case and this would allow control of other functions including 'record', but the remote would have to be really close!
