The art of (mis)advertising is alive and well on eBay.
Rules seem to be to include the words 'Perfect', 'Original', 'Immaculate', never use the word 'But' and to add the defect descriptions as if they were a feature, as in: 'Perfect original condition Bang & Olufsen xx BeoCord with chipped and cracked lid and two missing knobs that should be available from a dealer.' Also, 'Selling for a friend' and 'Have no cables to test' are also descriptions that somehow don't quite have the ring of truth about them!
Funny how many sellers refer to easy to find missing bits ...... if they were so easy to find why didn't the seller sort it out?
Graham
Hi graham, yes i myself have been a victim,im afraid, of the item being described as in "MINT CONDITION" when i received a beolab 3500 and beo4 remote control.
On opening the box it smelt strongly of smoke, and the remote had a scratch on the screen, although this was small,it was still a scratch, and it also had knocks to the edges.
I was, to say the least, dissapointed, but did not make a fuss,as i am not a fan of confrontation,so i just thanked the supplier and left it at that.
glen.

You're so right! And: 'easy to fix' - well, why didn't the seller just fix it...And another common one is: 'CD lens/mech needs cleaning' when the CD player is not working...If it's was only a matter of cleaning, why didn't the seller just clean it..? And how about: 'It was working fine when it was stored 3-5 years ago...'. Well - how about now..? And then comes 'have no cables to test' as you wrote...And some sellers doesn't even bother to wipe off the dirt/dust of their 'mint condition/like new' items...
Dammit, that 's what I've been doing wrong ---- don't we just learn something new every day...
I usually put in description what could go wrong (despite it's not quiet there yet)
Surprisingly no matter how much care and effort you take and describe to best knowledge and ability - time2time I've feeling that was written in different language as people ask over and over (what's in description) or referring to parts which clearly been outlined
Funny animal: eBay and people (certain types) in particular using it...
bob
P.S. bought once CD which didn't work (CD lens need cleaning... no cables to test) because the seller was one of that kind and did get real bargain there after the filthy lens been cleaned it worked perfectly.....

Don't worry - be Happy

One can be lucky now and then. I also once bought a BeoSystem 6500 with CD not working -and a cleaning of the lens solved the problem.
But often it is not enough with some cleaning - it is often some electronic issues. And then the seller shouldn't try to make a diagnose.Another example:Recently i saw an ad for a Beomaster 3000 (the one with slide rulers on front). The seller wrote: Mint condition - 'It was working 3 years ago...' (!) Then I could see on the picture, that 2 of the sliderulers were sitting very close together (which indicates that sometning has broke off inside).I wrote to the seller and he said he haven't noticed - but then he admitted that something was broke...Actually the receiver was completely 'dead' when he tried to turn it on...He didn't even bother to just plug it in and test before he tried to sell it...
