Hi Guys, I am new to the forum, but not really new to B&O I have had various systems in the past I I recently purchased a used Beocenter 2 and some very nice Beolab 8000 MK1's and in need of some advice. I wired it all up and everything worked perfect and sounded great, the problem I am having is after a week or so when I come to turn on the Beocenter (via pressing Disc or list > Aux etc) the red standby light just blinks ?? Any button I press either on the head unit or the remote and the light just blinks. To resolve this I switch it of at the mains for around 30 seconds, then back on and everything works fine again for a week or so. Is the head unit failing ?? Any info on this would be much appreciated.
Regards
Gary
I wonder if it is a PIN code issue. I don't suppose the PIN code you were given was 11111?
Peter
Thanks for the reply Peter, I have never had to put a pin code in and was not given a pin code when I purchased the system, I presume this option is disabled. I have had a quick read on the forum and some say it could be a connection issue between the socket box and head unit. So I have stripped it down and cleaned all the contacts with contact cleaner (head unit, socket box and cable), Then I noticed that a small piece of black plastic was missing from one edge of the end of the connection lead that connects the socked box to the head unit and it does not hold in place as tight as the other end. Do you think this could be the problem ? I.E if the cable is being slightly knocked when my missus is cleaning etc. I will try and upload a picture when I figure out how to do so.
Also do you know how I find the pin code, and if I enable this will it lock me out if unit is switched of at the mains
Thanks
If you have not used a PIN code, it is not activated. Have you the manual? You can get the digital version here. There is a service manual on site but you will need to be a silver member to access it - to be honest, not very helpful though you can get it to read any error codes. The broken plug could be an answer - ? worth taping it and make sure it is not disturbed.
I did notice a cable for sale on eBay - seems to be in Holland. I would make sure it is the cable first though.
Thanks for the info and links Peter, I have taped both ends of the cable, I do have the manual and the service manual, I have tried to access the error codes stored in NVMEM but unable to do so. I pressed the list key followed by >> then 00 and GO but it keeps going back to A .Aux. I will keep trying as I maybe doing the sequence wrong. Will be interesting to see if it has stored any connection error codes. Hopefully taping the cable will resolve the issue, it does state in the service manual that the interface cable is very sensitive so maybe the the connection issue could be the problem.
P.S You can see the black plastic that has broken off on the right side of the connector.
Hi,if it turns out to be the connecting cable I have a spare standard length one I could furnish...I’m uk based.
Hi, thank you for the reply, If indeed it turns out to be the cable then I will be in touch.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I would just like to confirm that the problem I was having was the connecting cable. If the Beocenter 2 was moved slightly (due to missus cleaning lol) then this would cause the cable to be partially moved from the Beocenter head unit, thus causing the connection problem. I have had no problems whatsoever for well over six months now. If the unit is moved for cleaning etc, then I ensure the cable is firmly back in the head unit. Thanks all for the help and replies
Very pleased to hear it is working. Mine is the main audio system in the house although I always felt my old 7000 system actually sounded better. The DAB is however the clinching factor.

Hi,
Just a quick note to expand on Peter's post - if you are ever offered any B&O product for sale and the seller states that the PIN code is 11111 then you must walk away and call the police, as the item is likely to be stolen. This is a service PIN code that only gives a few hours of use, before the real PIN code must then be entered. Sellers should be expected to supply the correct PIN code for products, as you won't normally be able to obtain this from B&O afterwards.
Hope this helps (possibly for future readers of this thread).
Kind regards and a Happy Christmas to all,
Steve.

Thank Peter, The Beocenter 2 is a great stylish system, but I do miss my old Beocenter 9000 not just for the styling, as the 9000 had more line inputs plus the tape deck, which I probably would rarely use, but its nice to know it's there if I wanted to blow the dust of my old mix tapes. I am envious of your Beocenter 2 as mine is the pre DAB version lol, I may upgrade in the future though as used ones are becoming fairly cheap now.
Thanks also to Steve for the info on buying a used Beocenter, this will be handy if I decide to upgrade.
Have a great Christmas all
