Beocenter 4600 Cassette Player

Hi, hopefully someone can help, my becenter 4600 cassette player isn't working, when the play button is about half way down I can hear the sound but really fast and when fully pressed in the tape is still turning but has no sound at all, any ideas?

Just to add to this, once the play button is fully pressed down, no sound, I then pressed pause and then play again and I get sound !!! I have to do this all the time to get it to work, any suggestions?
