Hi,

I want to use the Motorbase MB 4102 for a new purpose without a Bang & Olufsen TV. Is there any technical information / documentation what signals, voltage etc. are required to get this thing spinning in each direction?
Later Beo 4 control would be a nice option, but for now I just need to now how to let it rotate in each direction. ;)

I have the training notes for the earlier version of this device. It will need to be connected with something that has the "intelligence" on board to interpret the remote control commands.

It might be possible with a MCL transceiver, but you would need supplies for both that and the motor base.

I've got a salvaged base somewhere,I'll have a tinker.

That sounds good! Remote control is only a later option. For starting it would be nice to have the pin layout of the connector, required power, and an idea on how to control the motor. Maybe it's just a simple motor and not a stepper motor!?

Being B&O,it's a clever design!! They use a tiny dc motor driving a gear box and the final drive is via a ball race system.Incredible that this could move a crt tv,eg LX6000 etc

The motor drive is controlled by a microprocessor.

What made me think it might be adaptable,is that the data feed from the tv is serial,so it might function from a MCL transceiver?

Originally of course the intelligence was in the tv.

Only three pins are utilised in the four pin Din connector-power (12.5-19v)data and ground. There is no pin out in the training notes, but I can find that in the tv service manual.

I haven't been able to find my spare motor yet,but will keep looking.

Sadly,It seems as though this isn't possible

I've rigged it all up with my motor and a MCL transceiver, but to no avail.

I had hoped that the upc in the transceiver would convert the codes and communicate with the upc in the motor.

Originally of course, the inteliigence was in the tv upc for the stand/base operation.

I'm assuming too, that my motor is serviceable?I don't have a compatible tv anymore,to test it with.

The pin out of the plug is Pin 1:12-15v @350mA(supply+)Pin 2:Supply ground.Pin 3:Data in/out.

The base motor is a clever piece of electro-mechanic's.I imagine that it could be modified to use the motor control servo, and perhaps another protocol for remote control?

Regards,

Nick

Ok, thank you for your information and help. Maybe it could be solved bypassing the electronics and only driving the motor with an external controller (e.g. raspberry or arduino)!?

Yes indeed, that all seems possible. The B&O upc module can be unplugged. The servo motor drive is the usual bridge circuit driven on way or tother for direction.

e.mail me if you need the circuit diagram?
