Is it possible to voice control older TV sets?

First of all I’d like to wish all the best to the Forum and to B&O for this 2019.

During this holiday season maybe I had a bit too much time to relax and I have been observing the rise of the smart speakers, such as the increasingly popular Amazon Echo, Google Home, Sonos One and, last but not least, Beosound 1 and 2.

I have read that some of those speakers are able to allow the voice control of many devices, including TV’s.

It seems like it should be quite easy if the TV has built in Google Chromecast or Alexa but is there any of you who knows if there is a chance to join the older TV’s in one of these ecosystems and expand the capabilities with some external dongle?

In other words, is there any chance to voice control a BV11, BV7 or a V1?

I would simply answer no to that question.

I was trying to understand a bit more of this limitation.

It is due to the lack of HDMI-CEC ports, correct?

I would say its because the interface in the mentioned Beovisions is not built for voice command.

HDMI-CEC has nothing to do with voice commands, or do I misunderstand you?

What in the TVs do you want to command with voice?

If you connect an Apple TV you can do quite a lot with voice command, but then its the AppleTV you work with.

 

You can use rs232. It will work but is difficult. I control my bv 7 through Alexa, if I say trigger kitchen view, the BV7 opens curtains, turns to the kitchen, disconnects all speakers in the livingroom (basicly no sound) and turns on the labs 4000 in the kitchen. All through a BLGW, But I believe it can be done through rs232 or lintronic as wel. BS core as wel, turn on living radio and it pops, well nl/ml converter having a good day. In the kitchen no problem BS core works better on voice than essence remote.

I am investigating ip control on new TV”s if you can make a scene in the gateway anything can be voice controlled. As soon as I have some time I will build a setup with lintronic BLGW LG and Marantz and 7 Beolab speakers. It will be a clean setup with only 1 ir in sight the rest trough IP Or RS232 and loaded in the BLGW. This way it can be controlled by Alexa or beoremote 1. I have tried google but he is plain stupid.
