Beocord 5000 type 4705 tape deck doesn't stay in position

Hi all,

I'm reparing a Beocord 5000 type 4705, when I push the play/forward or rewind  button the cassette deck moves forward to the correct position but it only stays there as long as I press the button.

If I release the button the deck moves back to it's resting point.

I installed the replacement belts from Martin but it didn't solve this problem.

Can someone give me some pointers where to look at ? Is it an electronical problem or mechanical?  

What's the purpose of the spring contact on the photo, should it activate a solenoid so the deck remains in its position ?
