I reckon that it would work fine.
At worst you may lose auto switch on/off due to lack of pin 8, but I am not convinced that the MCL2P used pin8 to turn on and off anyway as I think this functionality was provided via data on pin 6 and/or 7.
Hi,
it should work flawless.
Pin 8 is the feedback of an active speaker telling the system an Overload Condition.
PIN 6 and 7 are for Speaker Display data.
The MCL2P needs a power on signal on PIN 4! (in contrast to the later BeoLabs)
PIN 1 is not used and theaudio signal comes on PIN 3 and 5.

Hi Dom,
Yes, that will work fine, as long as the Aux cable has all 7 pins wired.
Kind regards, Steve.

Detecting via the Pin 8 can't be done because the newer Beolabs (4000, 6000, 8000..) don't use the Overload function.
In the manual it says that the AV7000 detects whether rear speakers are connected. Most probably it does this like the Besound 9000. As there are 2 powerlink connectors for 'rear' one dummy Powerlink plug with a resistor ( 1k up to 4.7k) between Pin 2 and Pin 1. should do the trick. The MCL 2P then connected with a fully wired ( ) AV cable to the other rear powerlink connector.
