Hi,

I can share some experience with HD resolution on Beovision 7-32 and 7-40.

I can read that many are struggling with this and especially HDCP is often an issue.

I got HD image on Beovision 7-32 and 7-40 MK1 from Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 via these adapters:

Beovision 7-40 MK1 with PS3

- PS3 output is set to HDMI @ 720p

- BV input is AV4 (PC) via DVI-I (VGA) and Audio/RCA

This adapter can handle the HDCP encryption

HDMI to VGA+Audio

You need an additional VGA to DVI-I adapter

Beovision 7-32 MK1 with PS4

- PS4 output is set to HDMI @ 720p

- BV input is AV4 (PC) via DVI-I (DVI)

In this case I don't need audio as headphones are always connnected to the PS4 controller.

This HDMI splitter removes the HDCP encryption.

I have also used this splitter to remove HDCP from a set top box. In this case I got audio via SCART.

HDMI splitter

You need an additional HDMI to DVI adapter

I have also used a converter from HDMI to Component (YPbPr) Video +R/L Audio if a further HD source is needed.

It has worked fine with set top boxes where output can be set to 720p. However, the images looses contrast during signal conversion - at least with the 10€ converters I've used.

So... potentially your old BV7 (even MK1) can offer you 2 HD sources with low cost adaptors/converters.

I have also tested ChromeCast with the above mentioned adapters. Could not make it work as resolution isn't set to 720p. I got image via the HDMI to VGA+Audio adapter but the image is distorted.

An EDID emulator could be the solution. But I haven't tried it (yet).

Hopefully this information can help someone out there...

Useful information thanks!  It's funny how effective these very cheap adaptors can be at removing hdcp.

Here's the one that I use to connect my ATV4 to my BV6-26: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NAJ4UM2/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Interesting information,

I wonder if the HD Scaler/board in the BV7 also routes (YPbPr) through it like the DVI port? I was informed that the HD board bypassed all picture processing on the earlier BV7's and was only enabled by the HD command in the source Menu.

Can you select HD in the Source Menu for both? I don't have HDMI to (YPbPr) equipment to test?

Thanks Beoaus.

Hi,

not sure I fully understand your question.

On BV7's which are not HD Ready (not able to decode HDCP) you can only achieve HD signal via DVI via source defined as PC. In addition to this source you can enable HD on any other AV input via YPbPr.

On BV7's which are HD Ready you will have the option to select between YPbPr and DVI as HD source for any AV input. You don't need to use the PC input and button on Beo4. However... I have a BV7 with HDTV board. I had to disable HD TV in the service menu in order to have DVI available as HD source for my AV connections.
