Hello,

I am restoring a BG 8000 and have just done a capacitor replacement. Before I put it back together the aluminum panel over the tone and sensor arm needs cleaned and lubricated. It won't drop down. I know the pin that slides through that panel needs to be pulled to the left but to keep the hinge on the dustcover from breaking I am thinking the tension needs to be released to the dustcover. On page. 5-4 of the manual it says for adjusting the lid it is screw B. Do I loosen that to release tension on the hinge? Once upon a time I severely broke a dustcover on one of these because the tension had not been released but I have forgotten what releases the mechanism.

Thanks,

john

Open the dustcover, remove the long slim plastic cover that goes over the lid spring mech. and carriage.
Push down the leaf spring and unhook the activating arm from the underside of the dustcover. Only a small 10x10mm metal piece
with two hooks will remain under the dustcover, the rest will unhook and you can take it out or leave it in.
In most cases this will be possible without even adjusting the grub screw.

Thanks, Martin. I am anxious to get it back together and check to see if all works. Thanks for the advice and capacitor kit from some months ago.
