2 LC1s don't work

Some time back I aquired a pair of LC1s, both boxed and to my mind 'as new'. Sadly neither works!

AS with LC2s there are 4 connections, 2 for mains power and 2 for the lamp. When I connect power to the appropriate connections there is power getting through to the positive of one of the 2 lamp connections, but connecting the neutral from the lamp to the other connection achieves nothing. The lamp does not light and the unit does not respond to my Beo4 or touch.

Every so often I decide it's definitely time to throw them away, but each time I can't resist trying to get them to work again, always without success. I'm sure you all know the feeling having to dispose of anything B&O, but before I definitely this time dump them, has anyone any ideas what could be wrong?

It seems odd to me that the 2 units both don't work, but by definition I know they must be very old despite the fact that they are 'as new' as are the boxes, instructions etc.

So, more in hope than expectation, has anyone any ideas?

Thanks.

Never seen one in the flesh, have you got the wiring diagram for them ? i can only suggest connecting to the mains and get a meter on the output side.

Open them up and check the fuses.  They're under a protective flexible shield that lifts off.  If the fuse isn't the problem you can throw them away or sell them as parts.

Thanks for the replies - much appreciated. When I first got them and they didn't work, I experienced a brief sense of optimism when I thought it might be the fuses. Sadly not!

It's the bin then.

Thanks again.

Although they're only small, the packaging is quite big and as there are 2 of them I certainly can't see it being economic to send them from here in Spain to the UK!

Maybe this archived thread would assist Bob in repairing them (or at least one of them by using parts from the other).  There is no schematic diagram on Beoworld.

Wink It could help, shall They get here ...

bob

I use other resources to obtain schematic diagrams as well

(Beoworld is the best of course Wink, especially for chatter,  but many things aren't available here, and could be dig out elsewhere (like crossovers for Soren the Mexican Dan) WinkWhistle

I was just about to link to the same thing. Big Smile

However, my two broken LC1s had different problems, that's why I was able to 'combine' them. One was completely 'dead', the other one was always 'on' at 100% and couldn't be controlled. If the same component is blown in both units you are going to have problem (most parts are SMD-components without any part/type numbers).

Generally speaking, just replace all the electrolytics, redo all bad solder joints and check all semiconductors (a 'not overly cheap' multimeter with a diode/reverse voltage test will do).

I still have my 'spares unit' somewhere if anyone wants it.
