Hi
I have a pair of beolab 3 and beolab 7.1 currently connecting with an AV receiver as my front speakers. Now I would like to add a sub into my system. I have read a few threads about beolab 11. It seems to be a very good choice for beolab 3s. I use my system half for music half for movie. And my living space is about 40-45 m2. Do you think beolab 11 would give my system a real boost for both music and movie? Or do i need the more powerful beolab 2?
The problem with beolab 2 is I am worried it might be too powerful for beolab 3s, as you might known, the beolab 3s have crystal clear sound, would beolab 2 give too much 'boom' that might destroy the pure sound of beolab 3? However, I am not sure would beolab 11 be powerful enough for my room size and for some action movies?
Thanks
Tony

Mdjolly1973:I have the lab 11 and the lab 2 in another set up,the 11 is a lot more discreet and packs a punch when needed however the lab 2 is very boomy of which i only have on the lowest setting..... Depends how much of a impact you want! Cheers Mark

Hello Mark
thanks for your reply, what speakers are you using with beolab 2 and beolab 11? Would beolab 11 be good enough for movies? Well, I don't expect room shaking experience, but I do hope beolab 11 can bring some 'special effect'

That's ecactly the reason why I sold my BL2. I'm very satisfied now with the BL11. I have almost the same roomsize you mentioned. Try a demo at home from your dealer and you will hear the difference.

Hi, are you using beolab 3 to pair with beolab 11? As we have similar room size, maybe you could give me a better opinion on how good is the beolab 11 for moives? Can you actually feel the bass when you want? Well, for sure beolab 11 is great for music with beolab 3s.
Hi beofan 53,
I am going to use the updated new system in my new home in anther country, so I am afraid a home demo is not possible currently.
Hi mark
You have really good taste, 8000s and 3s are my favorite speakers in design wise. The only reason I did not buy 8000s is they look a bit to tall in my room decoration. Btw, would lab 11 be powerful enough for 4 8000s both for music and movies? what is your room size if you don't mind answer?

Mdjolly1973:I think the lab 11 is a more 'livable' speaker of the two....my rooms about 40ft x 25ft and it more than copes! Im thinking bout trading my 8000s and lab 11 for the beolab 9's and lab 3's at the rear......
wow, 40x25ft is a very large room, if you say bl 11 is livable in your room size, I think bl 11 would be more than enough in my room. And yes, for your room size, a pair of bl 9s and bl3 would be perfect. I like the sound of bl 9s, but Personally, I prefer the design of 8000s and 3s.

Cheers Tony That is enough, that is all I expect from a sub, from your experience, I really think bl 11 would be a perfect solution for my system. I use my BL11 in combination with a set of BL12-3's (front) and rear BL4000's. No sound adjustment is necessary. Perfect for music (more body, a tight bass, extra deep tones for music without the booming effect). Also perfect for movies (even set the subwooferlevel a bit higher, but not necessary). Do not expect earthquakes, but perfect and enough for a big punch with movies. I still have no regret of this tulip sub.

I've owned just about every speaker combo that B&O have provided (BL8000s aside) and i'm most happiest with my BL3+BL11 setup, particularly for music. It doesn't make a huge difference, but that small change does make the sound more 'rounder' and, of course, slightly more bass.
However, BL9s are much better for movies and the BL3+BL2 combo would be better for movies, too.

You can't go wrong with the lab 9s, in my opinion. 9s at the front, 3s at the rear?

I have heart bl 9 at my local dealer, they are amazing. But I have problems to place them in my room according to my odd room decoration, I guess bl3 + bl11 would be my best solution. And moxxey, can you please give some opinion on how close the bl3+bl11 combo compares to bl9 in overall performance for both music and movie?
