Hello

If there is a pair of beolab 5 or 9 I know that the bass will be sent to them in a home cinema setup.

If there are two pairs of beolab 5, the bass will be sent to front and rear speakers or only front ?

The system shouldn't care about the position of the speakers and send them to any capable speaker.

What do you think ?

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

I see, that you have a BV7-55 in your list.

Is that the audio processor, that you talk about?

In the BSys3/BV7-55 the bas management by far is not as advanced as in the BSys4 (e.g. the BV11-46).

As for the BV7-55 I have no idea how that is done - however, I assume that a BL5 will behave like a BL5, no matter where you put it and no matter what speaker role it has. In the BSys4 you have lots of options to do as you wish (even if you want to overrule the default settings there).

N.B. The more bas capable speakers you have, the better - this will in most cases be better in order to avoid room modes.

Depends what is driving them?

If it is a modern Beovision  with a full sound processor, the processor will distinguish what you have and how to deal with it.

I imagine selecting BL5 as main/front L/R, the processor will be pre-programmed to sent the LFE.1 there.

similarly, it will also know not to send the LFE to the rear/sides

I want to drive the 4 bl5 with a bv 7 55. I cannot test it actually as I need to change the rear cables.

7.55 can send bass to all speakers, if you select bl5 for each channel it will already do this automatically. This doesn’t mean though that all speakers will get the same bass output as it depends on where the bass is placed on the mix of the dvd/cd etc. But if the dvd calls for full bass from the rear, you’ll get it from the rear. Stick out tongue

I would resort to my original comments. Select the correct  speakers for front and rear/side. The Beovision will do all the correct calcs.

I would anticipate the fronts BL5s play the 2.1 with fUll LFE and  rear/sides will have diminished LFE per the preprogrammed sound profile

Why not let your ears decide?
