Hi,

In this article https://www.beoworld.org/article_view.asp?id=63 there is a note:

"Light sources - through the LC2 light control unit - could be controlled with such products as Beocenter 9500, which could be programmed to turn on or off the LC2 unit at any given time, and at any given light setting."

Can someone who knows how to do this share quick explanation? Neither LC2 nor BeoCenter 9500 user manual mention such mode of operation.

Thanks,
Henryk

As far as I remember you need a two way remote like Beolink 7000 or BL5000 to program a LINK LIGHT TIMER - and you will find this information in the BL7000 manual on page 16 (Programming).

Hope this helps

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for note. I do have BL5000 and based on your comment I see that this control is done thru remote controller.

Basically BeoCenter reports timer status and remote controller (BL5000 or BL7000) reacts to it.

Thanks for hint. Cheers,
Henryk

Basically a timer is stored in the BC9500.  Programmed with the BL5000 or 7000.

When the timer activates, the BC9500 sends the light instruction to the LC2. So you need a clear view between the LC2 and BC9500.

Only 2-way masters/centers are capable of doing this. A BM6500 or BM7000 for instance can do this either.

I recently came across a couple of brand new LC2s. 22 years in the darkness of  the cardboard box, and they still work like a charm Smile

In short a very, very clever design!

Hi Beobuddy,

Thanks for making this clear. I was wandering if this control is really thru remote controller. You post made it clear.

BeoLink 5000 -> BeoCenter 9500
and after that
BeoCenter 9500 -> LC 2

Two more questions:

1. Can I use Master Control Panel 6500 to program BeoCenter 9500 to operate LC2? Looking at manual for MCP6500 I think the answer to this is no but just want to double check.

2. Using BeoLink 5000, can I setup BeoCenter 9500 in a way that LC2 will be on/off differently on different days of the week? So for example LC2 will on from 8.00pm to 10.00pm from Monday to Friday and from 9.00pm to 12.00pm on Saturday and Sunday. Again I think answer is no since BeoCenter 9500 is fitted with just 24 hours clock not a calendar but still question worth a shot, right? :)

Thanks,
Henryk

Hi Henryk,

I’ll offer an answer to question 2 as Beobuddy hasn’t replied yet.

This is based on my experience owning my BC9500, BeoLink 5000 and BeoLink 7000. These remotes vastly expand the timer capabilities of BC9500.

Using the touch panel, you are right: you only have a daily recurring timer event of the BC9500 sources.

But with the remotes you can program a number of different events (including Light Play) on different days.

With a Beolink 5000 you can definitely do what you want. But unlike BeoLink 7000, it is somewhat less obvious to choose the days.

Because the times are unique to each program, you need to set two TIMER PLAY events.

(1) 8pm to 10pm, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri (press the down arrow to select each day during the programming sequence).

(2) 9pm to 23:59hrs, Sat, Sun.

Do let us know how you get along.

No. Unfortunately this does not work.

Hi Lawrance,

Thanks for detailed explanation. Now I just need fully operational BeoLInk 5000. The one I have exhibits standard issue with LCD display not working. At lease at this stage I know full story.

Once I have BeoLink 5000 fully working I'll definitely let you know about progress there.

Again, thank for advice.

Hi Guy,

Thanks for confirmation of my assumption. I'll focus now on BeLink 5000.

Cheers,
Henryk
