Dear members,
is there a way to connect the Beosystem 7000 to the Beosystem 3 directly without the use of a Beolink converter? Reason I'm asking is that I have compared direct connection of speakers to the Beosystem 7000 vs. connection to the TV and link between 7000 and TV (via 1611 converter) and the sound was much better with direct connection of speakers to the Beosystem. This observation leads me to the second question: can the use of the 1611 converter have such a negative impact on sound in your experience?
Greetings,
Kai

Dear Kai,
Yes, if you have line of sight to both systems for the remote control then you can directly link the Powerlink output of the 7000 to the red and white RCA audio inputs of the Beosystem 3 (eg. AV4) with this cable to avoid needing the converter:-

Please set the Beosound volume to a high level (50-75%) to give you the full range of volume control from the Beosystem 3.

Thanks for the answers.
@Steve: with that solution, I would need to put the Beosystem 7000 to option 1, wouldn't I?
@ DMacri: any Beosystem 3 does have DPLII, do they?
Probably buying a Beosystem 3 is the best solution for me.
Thanks!
Hi Kai,
Yes, option 1 will work for the 7000. Beosystem 3 has 8 pin Powerlink outputs, these can work with any B&O powered speakers, via the correct cables, so either newer RJ45 connections or DIN connections are fine.
Kind regards, Steve.
Hello again,
actually, I'm still not quite sure how to realize this. Connection is clear. But what about option programming? Beosystem 3 and Beosystem in option 1? And TV linked via DVI?
Why not get a Powerlink switch?

You connect everything as usual in 0/2 AV setup.
BS7000 and BS3 masterlinked via a 1611 converter - all Beolabs connected to BS3.
Now you disconnect the front Beolabs and connect them to the PL switch input1.
Connect your BS7000 PL output to PL switch input2.
Connect PL switch output to your front Beolabs.
Set BS7000 to A.OPT 1. Set BS3 to V.OPT 1.
Now your BS7000 will be directly routed to your front Beolabs, when you select an audio source - RADIO, CD, TAPE....)
Your BS3 will keep in Stdby mode.
If you select a video sourece, your BS3 will be activated and the BS3 front channels will be directly connected to your front Beolabs.
Your BS7000 will keep in Stdby mode.
If you want an audio source in 1-3-4-5 channel mode (party mode...) press just AV - audio source (AV-CD, AV-RADIO...) and select a SPEAKER mode.
This will route your BS7000 to your BS3 via ML and the PL switch will connect the BS3 input to your front Beolabs.
You have even access to all audio- and video sources in all connected link rooms.
Hope this makes sense...
