Beogram 1102

I'm using a Beogram 1102 into a Beomaster 2000. Usually when Iturn it on there is no volume at all in the right channel. A wiggle of the plug in the phono socket usually solves the issue (though see separate post), though accompanied by loud static cracks. Obviously I'd like to just turn on and enjoy without the wiggle and wondered it these are any ways that I can attend to either the plug itself or (possibly more likely) the socket.
