Hi - Just sharing out my latest mini project. I am surprised how good these sound through a BM1001. I guess this would be an easy set to re-cap the cross overs on, but wonder if that is worth it.
Got the BM1001 from Martin a while back and was shocked how bass heavy it was through my S45.2s (simply had to slide down the bass, but heavy at 0). He noted that it would be better paired with some older speakers; now it is Would love to have a pair of Beovox 1001s, but these particular periods of B&O are hard to come by in the USA. Seen them go for a steal in the UK, but the shipping is ridiculous.
Not too much old foam to clean up. Easier than my CX100s.
Tried a different foam vendor than usual and was happy with the part quality. They also sent a different glue that doesn't make the foam distort like crazy. Took longer to set, but I am pretty patient.
Shimmed, of course. Still felt like one of them was a little based to one side, but it plays fine. I use photo filter film that I can increase layer by layer until I get a nice snug fit. The green masking tape is holding the strips together; I not shimming with masking tape
I brought new paper dust caps, but was worried they may effect the sound, so simply glued the metal mesh ones back in place (couldn't find the size on line) -
Reinstalled them turned 180 degrees in case they have sagged over the years.
Next up some Penta Mk1 mid ranges.
Happy tinkering!

Good job Jamian, I like the detail of turning the drivers 180 degrees, as for the crossovers, a pair of caps is not expensive and they will fail sooner or later.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Thanks for the advice. I will get the Pentas up and running (three mids cleaned up waiting for foam so far) and then will return to re-cap these.
Here is the system in action - I think it is my favorite; though I have a beaten up Beomaster 2000 I will one day renovate:
Beautiful in white, Evan on this forum will be drooling he is infected with the Beo white Virus
