Avant 32DVD rear speaker

I recently aquired a pair of BL6000 and want to use them for rears with an Avant. The "speaker type" menu is only offering speaker choices on "front". I cannot highlight the rear or subwoofer to select so they remain set at "none" so I have no sound from the speakers. The 6000's are connected to the 'rear' powerlink outputs. Is there another menu somewhere to activate the settings? Any help appreciated.

I looked for a way to do this with my BV3 and was unsuccessful.  I wanted to add a Passive with a couple of CX50 rear speakers for a cheap B&O surround system.

The problem is that you need to trick the BV (or Avant)  into thinking front speakers are fitted without turning the internal speakers off.  Perhaps there is a way with some form of modified PL lead?

You have to add fronts first, thats just how surround sound works. Otherwise you would be missing a lot of the sound. Why not make them fronts then put them at the back of the room? Not ideal but it would give you the effect you are looking for without losing the front left and front right sounds - the rear sounds would just be mixed in to your BeoLab 6000's along with the front noises.

So far only the BeoVision 11 can have rears with no front speakers, thanks to the new True Image sound technology.

Thanks both for the replies. I thought it was a fault. I will use them as 'fronts' as you say. The Avant has more oomph than 6000 x 2 so they will be for enhancement more than anything.
