Teaser : “So, you want to evaluate a pair of loudspeakers, or a new turntable, or you’re trying to decide whether to subscribe to a music streaming service, or its more expensive “hi-fi” version – or just to stick with your CD collection… How should you listen to such a thing and form an opinion about its quality or performance – or your preference?”

This is all good stuff but how objective can you really be if you "know" speaker A is meant to be better than speaker B before you sit down to compare?

I wonder how many people come away thinking, "you know what, I don't care what others think, I prefer speaker B". It's on this site over and over again where folk make purchases based on others opinions rather than trusting their own.

Ban boring signatures!

You’re probably right, most of us don’t know how to do, and Geoff’s trying to help everybody to “educate” himself.

But, as he wrote, do you prefer to become an expert or to listen to music?

I guess you first need to recognise you have a bias and then temper down the fanboy’ism. Also being able to separate objective from subjective should helpStick out tongue
